Storm a Source of Ragequit
I’ll just say this about this particular quest. ♥♥♥♥. That. Below are spoilers for the end of what’s basically act 1 if you haven’t reached a new region yet, read at your own peril.

The Storm is an absolute cancer of a mission. It comes in two parts. Part one is in the castle and two in the woods of Apollonian.

Let’s talk part one. In part one you escape from the dungeon, make your way around the castle where there are very few guards, climb the tower and finally rid the world of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Istvan. This part is super easy. There are 6 guards, no cities, and 3 of them are sleeping. Then you get to part two.

And ♥♥♥♥ me sideways that is possibly the worst quest in the game to date, and quite possibly the worst quest in any game to date.

Listen, I’ve played a lot of stealth games where you need to creep rather than kill. But those games are built around it with mechanics developed for that purpose.

Anyway, 15 deaths later, this is how I beat the quest in the end.

My strength was reduced to 3 so I was heavily overloaded. First before you leave the cave, drink an artemisia potion. You should have a regular and a strong one if you looted the castle throughly. Drink the strong one. Then put on your stealth suit. Doesn’t have to be that good. Anything you looted from the castle that has low visibility and noise.

Exit the cave and head forward to the rocks on the left right across from the cave. Wait for the staff meeting to end and then sneak around the rock to where the guards were talking. Keep heading that way. There is a single guard standing watch. Sneak up on him and stealth kill him.

Exit save the game. Reload.

Turn south and climb toward the crest of the hill. This is by far the easiest way to go. You’ll reach a spot about halfway to your objective where you will run into an intersection of several patrols. Wait for them to pass crouching in a bush. With low vis clothes they can pass very close to you.

Once they disperse, exit save the game. Reload

Continue parallel until you reach a point where the marker is starting to move to your left. At that point make another exit save.

Go down, stealth kill the guy guarding Mike. Untie him. Game Save happens.

From here it is a lot easier. Follow Mike’s instructions. There will be another stationary guard you can stealth kill easy. Make sure to drink another Artemis potion if you ran out.

Exit save again. Continue heading south and try edging as much as you can to the crest of the hill. Eventually you’ll reach an area mid way to the marker where there aren’t any more guards. At that point just stand up and jog.

TLDR. Artemis potion to mitigate the worst of the strength debuff.

Circle around the mouth of the cave and head toward the objective cresting the top of the gorge.

Low vis clothes are a must.

Drop many exit saves.

If you’re frustrated, quit the game, come back to it some other time. I slept on it and then crushed it in one go after having rage quit the evening before doing 15 reloads and using colorful profanity.

Also, and this is kind of up to you but I don’t recommend using night vision potion. It helps you see better but it makes it more difficult to spot deep shadows and makes you question if the guards can see you where you’re at.

Donno what's wrong with you, bruh. Really.
I just killed them all while walking overloaded to the carriage in the south. Doesn't matter that my str/agi/vit were 5 points each. Just 2 shot everyone with master strike then piercing stab.

I also just killed everyone while walking out in the open. The guys are all chumps and barely block at all.

Although I did have level 20 warfare and level ~25 swords.

Managed to sneak through being tortured and massively overburdened. There's fairly frequent autosaves & quite a wide area you can choose to go through so I get it's difficult, but trial & error shouldn't make it take too long.
I don't know why but I am also past just that mission and while I was annoyed that I had the tortured buff and couldnt even carry my own armor and was permanently overloaded due to it I just robbed the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ castle and put it all in my inventory lmao.

In terms of low visibility clothes I just ran around naked lol. Maybe I didn't notice and somehow my stealth skills are decent but I never really played stealth aside from this mission I think.

Also you can use a save potion outside of the cave at pretty much any point. So if you have those or the Quicksave mod that's also a help. I had to reload 2 times because I've just had bad luck moving the wrong way at the wrong time.
Other than that while I was naked guards were pretty much blind and deaf because IRL that would have never worked what I did there.

WIthout quicksave mod I wouldn't even bother playing this game it is just too imperfect in it's current state and the saving option via potions is just way too often disabled when you actually need it.

Edit:

And yeah killing any guard stealth that you can that is alone made this whole ordeal much more comfortable too. If you have figured stealth take downs out it's pretty easy to do them consistently.

after about 40 hours in i came to that part...
my str was high enough to actully have lots of capacity left...
i just went into the fields and hid there, didn't even participate in the stealth game in the maze of rocks there, only when you have to meet the 2 triggerpoints (1 being the informant... one being that cart...)
sneak up from behind those guards and backstab them with a dagger.
it's not that bad - well i had my share of deaths too, but it's not that hard...
just be prepared and don't just rush the main mission...
When your strength is down to 2 or 3, you get one block in before all your stamina is out. Good on you guys you could murder your way through it. For the rest of us, the above is how I managed it at last.

Why is everyone complaining that they were over-encumbered? Unless you were trying to speed-run the game and have like no points in strength, you should have more than enough carry capacity for your armour, weapons, and a little extra.
i ended up dropping my gear; making sure i removed all plate anything that made noise; and litterally sneaked the whole thing like 4 try, sneaking is OP in this game. just stay out of the light, stay in bushes, watch enemy patrols as you sneak and walk through. its not that bad.

Storm was an amazing quest, After killing the bastard who stole my sword, I took revenge on Von's Mens I murdered every single patrol in that god forsaken forest. They had the nerve to use me so they must suffer the consequences.

Wanna know how I did this? I got good and had no skill issues. I also had potions to assist me and a strong weapon.

I used the tools the game gave me and absolutely demolished it. Instead of crying on the steam forums. If you're considering ragequitting or angry at a video game, consider the tools the developers gave you. Instead of this post. Yes my patience is gone with complainers on KCD1/2

you get tortured in the castle and that drops all your stats to 2-5 depending on how much torture you endured.

Good lad. A fellow skill gotter instead of skill issue. I salute you good sir. Christ be praised
Are there more missions like this? Because I absolutely hated it, and if there are more to come, I would rather move on to a different game.

It's gonna be like this until KCD 3. People will rush the main story, and suffer for it. Then come here to call the game bad. KCD 1 has been the same way since 2018 lol. What's another 7 years of this.

are you serious? you get the opportunity to loot like 10k worth of goods from the opposition you slay from the start of the quest. 95% of people are going to have to decide to give up 9500 coins or end this quest unencumbered

Wooptydo for you. Some of us don't have the luxury of spending 3 hours reloading saves.
