The TomCat training quest is 100% bugged. Any news on patches or a work around?
I've seen so many people with the same issue both on here and reddit. He wants you to use the up, right, left combo but no matter how many times you use it, he doesn't register that you did and just tells you "wrong direction". I've been coming back and trying it again over several hours the last few days and it's definitely a broken side-quest. On the topic of bugs, I've been playing for 20 hours and I've run into plenty, andI haven't started the wedding quest yet, but I've been seeing countless posts here and on reddit about it being bugged too because the game forgets to replace the stats of your opponent's wooden swords when they switch from their real sword for the competition. So you're fighting with a wooden sword that takes 10-15 strikes to win and they're fighting with a steel sword that can kill you in one strike because armor isn't allowed. The bugs aren't just annoying in this game, they make it downright unplayable, miserable, and lock content away.

What's the news on them patching bugs? Do they have any plans for damage control? It probably could have used another few months in development and the testing phase. But has anyone found a work around to these bugs? The Wedding I can always download a trainer for infinite health just to get through that bug, but since it's been this bad already before even starting the first main quest, I'm getting lots of anxiety about how buggy and unstable the rest of the game is.

no bugs you just do timing wrong . sadly too many of you didnt get used to combat and blame stuff on bugs. i had no issues to follow his orders and got all comobs right

Yeah I also did this without much of an issue.

Also, the wedding fights are hard, but I don't think it's bugged. They will kill you in 2-3 hits, but I think that might be intended; it's not very hard to never get hit in a fight.

Idk what the plans are for patches. Would expect one soon though.

What is so weird in these situations is I have 75 hours in the game, and not had any of these bugs. Fight with Tomcat worked, wedding was perfect (both times; reloaded to so other stuff first).
I can only assume it all depends on what you do when. And those issues are super difficult to debug and actually fix
No problems for me
So the natural fall of the sword after an overhead attack is to the left. You have to actively try to make it go against its natural fall to get it to the right. It can be done but you have to be fast and twitchy.

I just had the same trouble, after re-trying when doing the final step "left" actually walk left while striking this seemed to get it to work, I'm about 20 hours in and still wicked bad at combat lmao
the 2 final hits have to be clicked in quick succession, if you pause for any time it does the wrong attack
I think I just have a better gaming chair as I've had no issue with this

So because it didn't happen to you it can't possibly be happening to other people. Come on man, you know you're being unrealistic.

It's not bugged, it's just finicky. Part of the jank that comes with this combat system.

I completed it but I will say the game seems to be hit or miss if it’s gonna accept my input. I’m playing with controller but half my combos get interrupted because Henry just doesn’t swing his sword when I click the attack button.

On a separate issue, is level 2 combat training with Tomcat suppose to be done later in the game? Cause I’m lvl 12 and he is flat kicking my butt. Even in my armor, he’s parrying my attacks and finishing me in 3-4 hits. What level did people do this? Maybe I just suck that bad lol.
Worked for me on the first try.

Maybe it's because I'm not walking left like you did. I'll try that. When there are barely any combat encounters to begin with in the game, like with me I've only had 2 combat encounters in total by 20 hours in and didn't play the first game, it's borderline impossible to improve, especially when the game doesn't tell you anything.

But come on, I've been at this for hours and it's never once worked. That's not jank, that's down right ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game design.

Could not disagree more.

Playing the "quest" version of the attack, Tomcat blocks perfectly and you cannot progress without cheesing it by spamming continuously until you get a hit in. Re-loaded multiple times to confirm.

"Practising" the *exact* same attack on Tomcat, it works perfectly. Zero issue.

This encounter is definitely bugged. Maybe not for *all* but certainly bugged.
