Short Swords vs Long Swords

Which one is better?

In the first game I used long swords a lot because of their damage, but I noticed that I've been killing enemies a lot faster with short sword master strikes over long sword master strikes.

long sword is true weapon of a sword master. short sword is alright . but long sword has combos short sword dont have . same combo short sword has that long sword dont. but longsword does more damage overall
you can also kill faster with axe and other weapons its perferance really

you get perks that significantly increase your ability with wielding a 1-handed weapon without a shield, so I don't think one is much better than the other. Ultimately it's about style more than what's the best. You don't need the absolute best weapon to dominate in combat. Just use whatever you think is the coolest.

I MidMax when I play RPG's like this so I prefer what ever kills faster.

Short Sword with no shield has the best combos in my opinion, once you learn them that is. 4 hit throat slash is so satisfying.

Longsword is best, there is a perk that allows you to use the longsword with only one hand, so you can hold a shield or torch in the other. There is another perk that gives you a damage bonus when you have a shield or a torch in your other hand while fighting.

Short sword, especially with the Gladiator and Whirlwind perks.

I wanted to go for a bad ass long sword. But as I level up I saw there is so many good perk for one handed sword .. that I finally only use short blade.

Short Swords for numbers. You have perks that boost Damage when only using 1h without shield. Longswords Second place Maces/Warpicks ->everything else

You should try the Ataman Sabre on henry quality. Great sword and very fast.

The perk to use a longsword with one hand applies a significant debuff to attack speed and stamina cost.
Conversely, you get a big boost to Shortswords for using it without a shield. And no penalty for holding a torch.

I think short sword with no shield is probably on par with longsword, but more convenient (able to use a torch, easier to swing in confined spaces, etc).
