Was one click away from this today as I was a little bit distracted.
New game in the pause menu is a horrible idea by choice, and given if i can't restore my game or find a save that lets me continue close to where i left off? I'm sadly dropping KC2.
1) Accidentally Click New Game instead of Save.
2) Know that your new save will overwrite the old one, so click YES
3) Popup for starting new game comes up and you realize you clicked the wrong thing and click back. You have not created a single save at this point, you haven't started a new game, but it deleted your old one anyway.
It's just really badly written code.
BG3s Profile system is significantly better. You have to go in and physically delete the profile, there's no option to overwrite it when creating a new game. I don't understand why they even have a set number of profiles you can have, or a set number of saves for that matter. It should just make a new one each time you click new game. This isn't a cloud based game, if I want to fill my SSD with KCD2 profiles and saves, I should be able to.
Then again, their save system is borked anyway. Half the time it loads up and the state isn't close to the same. That guy you were trying to pickpocket is now on the other side of town.
Exactly what happened to me, at the end of Act 2. I'd completed every side quest in Act 2 before doing the main one, and oops, all gone. Something like 140 hours.
Thankfully it was my second time through Act 2. I missed my chance to romance Rosa, so I went back and restarted just that act. I feel for the people that never even got to see the end, that sucks.
