If you turn off your internet and then close the game steam can't sync.
Go to your userdata steam folder, find the game id on steamdb and then delete the folder with that id name. It start with 177 I think. Then turn on your internet. If it all goes to plan steam will download the last cloud saves it has when you open the game again
I will try to see where I can upload it for you guys to use.
The app reads an origin folder you give it every ten seconds, which would be the save folder for the playline you want to back up, and then if there are new or overwritten (this should work hopefully) files in the origin folder, it will copy those files into a backup folder in the directory where you run the app from. You can then check in the backup folder for any files that might have gone missing.
I just finished the story yesterday and even though it would be nice to start again, I did not want to risk losing it all.
EDIT:
Here it is. If you don't trust me don't download it or use it.

- https://github.com/LawhMods/BackupFolderApp
Instructions:
- You can make it run minimized at Windows startup by placing a shortcut into the Windows Startup folder and making it run minimized by editing the properties of the shortcut.
- Run it and a console window will open
- Paste in the path to your playline folder and press enter - "...USERNAME\Saved Games\kingdomcome2\saves\playline0" for example
- The app will create a config file that saves this path into it when you run it again.
- The app will create a Backups folder into the app directory.
- The app will then check the save game folder every 10 seconds to see if there are new files to back up.
- If new saves are found, it will copy those new saves into the Backups folder.
- If a file with the same name already exists, it will add a "Backup#" tag to the end of it.
- If you want to backup multiple playlines, run multiple instances of this same app but put them in different folders. This app is meant to be as simple and dumb as possible to avoid running into any missed files or other errors.
Solution 1 (before this mishap occurs):
Simply go to the folder:
C:\users\"username"\saved games\kingdomcome2\saves
(create a link so you can access it quickly)
and regularly save the data in a separate folder.
You can also reduce the save files yourself by simply deleting them manually from the folder.
Solution 2 (after it's already too late):
Otherwise there is the Steam website:
https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
You may still find your old save games there and can download them. For example, I still have save games from February 8th there.
Then you don't need any other things like a self-written program or something like that.
