Why did I lose my first horse race?
I even have Pebbles with the super achievements unlocked and making him supergood!?
But the other rider was just always either at the same speed or faster.
Like even when the road was straight and super for overtaking another horse, I could not catch up to him. And my horse "Pebbles" has like a value of 5000 gold and a speed of 38 or so.
What am I missing?
Do I need to equip something special to get faster or do I need to trick the other rider with something to make an accident?

The race against the nomad dude? He's super fast, but with the upgraded Peddles I beat him easily. My first time without the Peddles upgrade was terrible. He was so far ahead I couldn't even see him anymore.

But you might need the horse perks, better stamina, quick start, etc to really stand a chance. I'm not sure

Are you talking about the guy from the Nomad's camp? It looked impossible to me as well. But I had my revenge at swordfight and dice :)
Ensure you do not have your horse equipped with gear that slows him down. Get gear that speeds him up, my pebbles has a speed of 56 with the horse buff

Same
ok so I am not the only one! Good.
I was like, dude my horse is faster than 99% of horses I have seen so far.
Should I really lose my first race to a nomad guy? lmao

YES! is the answer. ;)

No offense but 38 speed is trash, my horse is 59(MAX60) , value sometimes can be deceiving because it boosts up by how much weight the horse can carry and it's courage , none of these have any effectiveness in a speed race.
38 speed is pretty bad
Its rigged thats why. Later there are alot of Quests that you cant win no matter how High your Stats are.

Did you remember to spur him regularly?

of course, thats kinda a common-sense-given. Otherwise you just gallop slowly.
But my speed of my horse was not faster as the other horse even with a super horse. So I could never overtake him. Never.
I dunno. if it's the race with the nomad, I beat him quite easily on my second attempt. I failed the first one because I took a wrong turn. It might be your horsemanship level is low or it's a skill issue

Getting the nitro boost perk right at the start of a race is great to create some distance, after that it's just good stamina managment.

The what? Never heard of that perk and I have every perk unlocked in "Horsemanship".
Damn I did not know the "sprint" bar actually represents your speed!?
So you wan to keep it at 99% all the time.

I got back to the Voivode first easily at first try, but I didn't won the race. I tried everything for him to notice that I arrived, and then Tibor came in, and he won. Second try the same. I got there first, but no win.
