The speed of weapon draws and switches are irl inspired. That means if you want to switch from a bow to a sword the thing would go like
remove arrow from bow > put bow on your back > draw sword.
Note that any incomming hit/attack will cancel any draw/switch animation.
And if I mash the buttons I'll just end up with my fists and not my weapon.
So jank.
As far as I know there isn't.
I guess you just have to plan ahead and not wait to switch weapons untill the enemies already swarmed you.
Well, running is a valid option already.
I do agree however, that the game would benefit from being able to just drop what ever you are holding in hand atm.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was what they did back then anyways.
No it isn't. If someone's charging me with a sword and my crossbow is out, I'm dropping it or throwing it at his face while I reach for my sword. Nobody decocks a crossbow in the middle of battle.
I agreed on that before...
I fully understand that realism is important in this game, it's why I like it, but is it truly real the I shoot someone in the head with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arrow who is wearing a leather cap, for that guy to be able to run up a hill, onto the rocks that I am stood on and be able to attack me... When I tried swapping my weapon on the first ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shot as I ain;t dumb nuf to keep a bow after being seen.
The last I checked, it's quicker to pull out a sword than it is to run up a hill, charge at a man through a bunch of rocks, with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arrow sticking out of your forehead... But hey, maybe I am just a weak fragile human.
Oh yeah, and in the 15 seconds it took this god of a man to get to me, I still could not get a simple sword out... Hell, couldn't even put the bow back onto his back never mind get a sword out.
The fact that animationsbasically prohibit more inputs makes everything feel incredibly clunky -- the minigames, combat, switching weapons, etc. You press a button and have time to grab some popcorn waiting for the movie to play.
