Crash when accessing inventory screen
Has anyone else encountered this or come across a fix?

Loving the game so far. I can play for about 2 hours, maybe a little more, and then when accessing the menu screen the game will freeze. I can't exit the game or navigate away and have to hard restart my computer.

I've lost some time this way, but not much. It is usually right around a time when I want to have a schnapps before doing something risky... so that is a really unfortunate loss of momentum. Still, if there is a workaround I'd be willing to give it a shot.

20+ hours into the game and not had that happen yet.

I got my first crash after around 20hours, after quest where all my items were removed and given prisoner outfit, and when I finished said quest,I got my items back, and my loadouts were cleared, I was putting on my gear again on my different loadouts and when scrolling the inventory down, the game just crashed for me.
Interesting... thank you both.

Even negative responses help me gauge what is going on. Enough of them and I'd be more concerned I have a hardware issue.

The other crash though doesn't sound like what I've encountered. While mine does happen when accessing the inventory screen, I don't usually get to it. The crash seems to happen during the transition.

75 hours and not one crash. If I wasn't the one playing I wouldn't have believed it myself.

It sounds like a memory related problem if it only happens after a few hours. Or maybe overheating?

You could try opening Windows Event Viewer and see if anything is logged under System or Application in the Windows log section. That should give you an idea of what happened. Just check the time. If it's a gpu issue for example it usually shows the driver crashed or whatever the cause was
That is new to me! I pulled up Event Viewer but I don't see any errors that correspond with the times when the game has crashed. I'll keep playing and checking it.

As far as temperature goes, I thought the PC would just shut off if the temps were too high rather than freeze everything and remain on. I've done some things I hadn't done before in running KCD 2: I overclocked my GPU, CPU and memory. I also installed new memory.

I just ran an hour long test in OCCT without any errors or issues... but I usually play for a lot longer than an hour at a time. I did learn from the test that my CPU cooling is inadequate; it was up at 93 - 100 C most of the time. I also just learned that overclocking the GPU can cause freezes.

I'll try tweaking the OC settings to see if I can get it to work and if not, I'll just tone down the graphics. It seems like it is my machine and not the game. Appreciate the help!

That's weird bro. Hope you figure it out.

Yeah Event viewer can sometimes be a bit weird. At the very least you should see the error saying system started up after a crash. But sometimes Windows can crash so hard no events are even logged. But be sure to check both System and Application logs. I think it did say that though haha.

Yeah the overheat thing was just a guess as you are right, normally it shuts down or restarts.

It might very well be the OC. My previous card had some weird issues where some games would just crash the PC. It was a overclocked card but had some bug it seems. I had to go to the nVidia control panel and under the Help menu enable Debug Mode to fix it. That basically forces the card to reset to it's default state or something. Might be worth a try if you're on nvidia

Nothing in viewer for me either, I use it pretty often, I did get the Kingdom Come 2 crash reporter tool automatically open when the crash happened so I wrote what I was doing as it happened and then sent the report
i have similar problem too. I can play this game for hours and nothing will happen. Every time i go in inventory or i am trading with someone there is a risk, that the game will freeze and after i wait some time, the game will shut down.
It can't be some problem with memory leak or something like that.
I think my problem was the overclocking of the CPU. I've been playing with it and experimenting before. I can run it just fine with the OC turned off... I did so yesterday for several hours in and out of inventory, riding on my horse, getting through combat... but I was greedy and wanted to squeeze every last drop of performance out of my machine that I could.

...I'm still messing with it... and got a new fan... and now I think I'll be able to run it overclocked. I wish I could get it to be cooler but it'll run around 70 C.
When opening the inventory (such as trading with merchants, opening chests, or looting corpses...), the game has a chance to freeze, and the Task Manager shows a sudden increase in SSD usage.

It seems like having too many items in the inventory causes the game to take time to load everything.
Same happens to me, though it's usually when I have a LOT of items in my inventory (by qty).

I used to CTD when Dawntrail first hit--even worse back then. I'm no computer expert, but it seemed there was particular trouble on something between certain mobos, certain processors, and/or certain GPUs (in my case, MSI z790 wireless, i9-14900K, and some RTX 3070).

MSI eventually announced there was an issue with how it routed power to one of them (the CPU, I think) and advised ppl to adjust the settings until they released a new BIOS. I updated and it fixed the Dawntrail issue, but I still seem to crash if the game demands a lot at once (e.g. trying to load a save mid-combat in cyberpunk, bringing up the KCD2 map w a large inventory)

Anyway, might be worth updating your BIOS.
Raptor Lake by any chance and didn't replace it yet?
Just a thought

Burned through 2 of them before this piece of.... well it works now

Latest: Bug still persists but is much mitigated.

I can load the game, then alternating hitting 'I' to open inventory and 'esc' to close it. It only takes like 3 times opening and closing till the game crashes. This is ridiculous I have lost so much gameplay due to this, I am fearful when opening any in game 2d interface like map the game crashes. I sometimes stop and look up at the sky and pray waiting a few seconds before trying to softly press the 'I' key hoping the game doesn't take a ♥♥♥♥.

Where the hell is the support for this issue?

Update: After trying many other things. I lowered the graphic quality. And can no longer repro with fast key clicks. I don't know if this solved the issue but I realized I was still at experimental settings for everything in advanced graphic settings and lowered it. Funny experimental settings were all for 3D rendering and such, but it was loading 2d screens like inventory and maps that caused the crash.

Update: Damn it, after playing for hours it finally crashed again opening inventory right after I just went through some exhaustive selling of stuff. Seems the bug is still there just more rare, with lower graphics settings.

Plagued by the menu bug myself - random - sometimes minutes, sometimes hours - not sure what is triggering it
Frequent crashing since patch 1.2 / 2nd map area. Nothing has helped. 0 crashes on 1st map.
