It's called a "Heavy crossbow" or "Reinforced heavy crossbow." Keep an eye out for it, but you probably won't find one until you go to the second map. In general, crossbows will always do more damage than regular bows, so use them for hunting. Keep in mind that heavy crossbows/arbalests cannot be reloaded from horseback.
Hunting feels dead in KCD2. First, it feels much harder to spot prey in all that foliage (which may be realistic, of course). Then, even if you hit it, it either warps away or stays like an idiot looking around like "whhaaa, guys? reaallyy? who did that, huh?" with an arrow in its bottom (back) parts.
Managed to drive an elk to cliff edge, so it could not run away. Shot like 40 arrows and bolts from close range, just to watch him twerk a bit. Then decided to stop this show, took a sword and started slashing poor lad just to realize that he was already dead long time ago yet animated like a live one. Had to butcher zombie elk while it was still standing and looking at me. Medieval hunting is totally cruel.
