Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Criminality system for stealing is bad
No witnesses. No one spotted you.

Yet enjoy your bounty because the game magically knows you took something.

Seriously, did they put any effort into this?

Right. The people defending this - by your logic, I've just taken 2 days off work after being there for nearly every day. No one saw me during them 2 days, but the day I return to work, I'm escorted to the office and given the sack because £40 went missing out of petty cash.
The game tells you in the pop-up guides how the crime system works and how citizens in a town may think you're the one who committed a crime.
Some people just have a difficult time understanding how far video game technology and AI has come.
got the same exact problem:
no witnesses yet the npcs magically know that the naked guy without any armour stealing the weapons shop clean was me
the crime system is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Look, from my point of view, the criminality thing is not the problem. I've successfully stolen other things many times without anyone batting an eye or occasionally, I'll be searched. That's fine, I like that.

The issue for me is that one quest, to steal the ledger from the Rathaus. I've reloaded my save and tried different approaches, each time without being seen, the only other NPC that knows of my upcoming actions is the miller - You're instantly wanted in the stocks or pay a fine. There's no questioning, no investigation, just downright finger pointing.

In reflection, I've a feeling it may be a "tutorial" on the crime system and consequences yet the game does not go out of it's way to say this is what is happening. Either that, or the quest is not working as intended.

Mhh... the quest wasn't an issue for me tbh. It took me few minutes... I took the document and ran away... no problem and nobody was mad at me afterwards. I even knocked out a guardman and stole all of his stuff.
Again: If you arrive at a village and npcs see you, they most probably will keep an eye on you if you steal or kill somebody even if none of the npcs will observe it. The very moment you arrive and they see you... you're done. Yall complaining because devs actually - for once in the entire history of gaming - created a more realistic approach. No wonder devs are going to spit mediocre games... open your minds for once and ask how the system work and try to understand it without complaining...

not really. its a great system if it 100% worked. i snuck into town. from the wood line. about 4 mins in game away. killed the gaurd. stole a document. hid the guard on the way out. still got called a thief but not a murderer. done it all starting at like 1 am till 3 am

I started a street brawl with a bunch of peasants. I knocked them all out. Some of them died. On the road away from the village, some other peasants picked me out for murder. Don't know how. Stupid mechanics.

And yes, I washed the blood off of me.

I can only approve my own actions ingame. From what I can tell I never had an issue with the mechanic once ppl told me how it works. Since then I was able to avoid any problems and still being a criminal.
i have murdered innocent people in the street for horses and never get in trouble. but then again i make sure everyone in every town loves me unconditionally. ive learned if you break in and steal ♥♥♥♥ be polite and make sure i close the doors behind me i open.

I wonder if this is like a "winning more" situation. Like if you get your reputation high before doing crime, nobody suspects you, but if your reputation is low then the guards will just assume you're the reason anything turns up missing.

Because yeah, I really don't see what so many other people in here are complaining about.
Funny, I didn't have any trouble with the Rathaus ledger theft. I was actually in the middle of the missing daughter questline, and was warped into the Rauthaus after finding the culprit and telling the Bailiff to lock him up. The game took me there to have a conversation with the bailiff while the culprit was in one of the cells. This allowed me to be in the jail next to the chest and wasn't flagged as being trespassing. I just waited several hours until a guard upstairs was sleeping, stole his key, stole the ledger and left out the back door. LOL.
Did that tournament fight in Sigismund's camp for Jezhek. Didn't have a shield, so yoinked a Cuman shield from someone's tent and started the fight. Beat the guy in the first round, then when the second round came (short sword & shield), immediately all the guards rush me inside the tournament ring and try to arrest me for carrying a stolen shield. Paid the fine and the fight ends and says I won the whole duel, lmao. Sometimes things just work out.

it is pretty much reputation makes a huge diffrence in outcomes like you gotta look at it like this these people all know eachother since birth pretty much and an outsider comes along and ♥♥♥♥ goes missing guess who people blame naturally.
like ive sold stolen goods to intown merchants from dead civilians out on the roads and never get in trouble.
I have a red face in every town and I haven't even done the wedding quest yet lol. I frequently beat the piss out of someone on the road for their horse and then sell the horse and equipment. caravans are especially fun.

I have a charisma of 30 so i just talk my way out if i screw up and get caught. I steal what i need and sell to the miller. currently have 6.7k and at least 200 items in the community chest.
