Godwin - Any reason as to why there is a new voice actor?
As above?

I don't mind the new one, i just preferred the KCD 1 voice actor for him.

Maybe the previous voice actor wasn't available, or they were a bit iffy on using them again. They were great during the main quest of KCD1 but any other interaction with that character was some of the worst voice acting in the game. I don't really know what happened there but maybe having him be a more central character required a different level of consistency

Maybe, but his part in the main scenario was hilarious if you went down the naughty route in KCD 1.
Yeah having a new voice actor was difficult to get used to. Tbh, as much as I love the character in both games, there were some poorly delivered lines from both voice actors. It's a little more of an issue I notice in KCD2 as a whole, but that's kinda what I expected when they said there was more dialogue than BG3

Tbh I felt KCD1’s Godwin was weak performance, but the total change in tone/accent is jarring. Wish they kept the old actor but with better directing/coaching.

You...LIKED the voice actor for Godwin in KCD? Not only did his American accent throw me right out of immersion, but the actor delivered his lines like he was reading from a script at a tax attorney convention. TERRIBLE!
I liked the original voice actor myself. This one does a good job though. Godwins original voice actor is in the game though just not as godwin. Or maybe i am mistaken but i just joined up at the sigusmunds camp, after passing all the speech checks it took me to a tent where i am hearing his voice. I wish they would habe left it honestly, along with almost all original voices from every game i have ever played. I am wanting to take voice clips from original voice actors in games and use AI to mod them into the newer games. Like metal gear with snake as David Hayter for instance or the voice of Jax from elex 1 modded into elex 2. Honestly any voice put over any character practically flawlessly in all scenes.

Why British accents are accepted?

Yes, exactly, it's no different.

American accents are stupid in historical games//shows/movies. Get over it.
Sorry but no.
American accent fits 100% in Soldier Blue. While being marked as westen, it's historical and shows most of actual events (the most disturbing scenes were left out and described on other media, although the movie watcher won't believe anything can be more disturbing than that).

Note that I do not recommend this movie to grifters, they might be so shocked they'll end up in a nuthouse.

But that is american history movie.
When watching historical movie outside of USA, any american accent feels out of place and breaks immersion.

And the London received pronunciation accent that gets shoved into every historical piece is? The American accent is a closer accent to what would have existed in Early English (which even still came about after to this game's time period) compared to that. If you want a modern British accent that sounds closer to Early English, it'd probably be something like a Cornish accent. Either way, to say the American accent is stupid is just purely based on what Hollywood has taught you.

I agree completely. The new voice, for me, fits the character so much better.

According to IMDB, the voice actor for Godwin in KCD1, Randall Scott Williams, has not had an acting role since 2020 (and only had a handful too). Maybe he's just moved on from acting...
This video from Warhorse Studios explains everything.

(It explains nothing, but it's a funny take on this discussion about VA replacements.)

I started with KCD2 so going back to play the original game is extremely jarring… why does he sound like that, i would pay the KCD2 voice actor just to revoice this for me, it sounds like an actual robot talking in the first game.

New VA is miles better and perfectly suits the character
I thought the voice actor for Godwin in KCD1 was absolutely fine to be honest and as for having an American accent, so what?
This is just a silly prejudice, it's no less 'historically accurate' than having modern English or Scottish accents- just a Hollywood convention in the main.
