Not enough groschen in game.
I'm sitting at a point where I'll loot a piece of armor that's 1.5k or more, and merchants only have 800 groschen.

Sick game design.

get the perks that add sell value then
And if you sell the piece of loot, most merchants only pay you 200-300 so... well, 800 is enough.
I've stocked around 20-30 pieces of every armor slot in my chest (all value above 200) as I reached Kuttenberg for the first time.
Now I've sold all in 2 Ingame Days (some items traded for better Gear or Recipes) and will never need money again for the rest of the Game I would guess.

So... no issue found, there are so many Merchants in Kuttenberg that you can sell everything.

That wouldnt help the merchants have no money
I would farm the traders like the tailor and smiths for money. Hoard half broken but not totally broken clothes and armor. Have them repaired. Sell those items back. Profit. Rinse and repeat.

As you improve bartering and repair skills this process gets much more profitable. In KCD1 I noticed some vendors would get rich from my repairs and have 20k of groschen. I'd go in and bring in all the armor I collected and took the majority of that money back. THen i'd break into their homes and steal what was left. Then I start the process over again.

When I saw the title I thought you were going to complain about how hard it is to get groschen and that would be sooo wrong. ;)
I just stick the stuff I can't sell yet in my chest. There are so many things you end up with that you can sell now, and marigold decoction is easy to make and sells for a good bit.
I figure when I get to Kuttenberg region I'll be able to sell the bigger stuff.

No, it's not. Play more than 30 minutes into the game.
it depends on what merchant, those in richer more crowded places have a lot more, up to 2-3K each

What an perfect answer.

I've reached Kuttenberg - more than 20+ hours, more than 30k Groschen in my pocket and spent more than 20k already.

Maybe YOU are the one creating YOUR issue here, not the Game.
the "wallet" of merchants is pretty annoying; but ive never had any problems. im just getting into the 2nd city with like 5k gold. there are more than enough vendors in the city; in fact as far as video game cities; i think this one might have the most vendors of any city ive ever seen.

Quick question, why would a poorly trader form a village keep a small fortune on hand, more than it would be expected to buy like the full village?

Do you want immersion or you are willing to ignore it?
Also you get 10k easily by midgame without farming for it, just doing normal side quests.
You can probably farm in the hundreds of k if you are willing to farm it.

There is nothing for you to spend it on , besides a horse, which you can pick it back up from the stables chest after.

The rest you can pick it from their dead hands, or tournament chests, or yea. without spending a dime.

The only real money sink is doing a bunch of crimes and then pay the guards.

It is time to role play as a horse thief.

Steal horse every other day and sell to Black market horse merchant. He really only will ever have 355g to give you for any horse because that's what his wallet resets hat, but if you stay consistent with it you can easily hover around 1k grochen. And that's with buying responsible upgrades here and there.
@mouserat I think thats an even bigger issue with the game design; lack of item diversity; its still fine and good; and there is a ton of weapon/armor/clothing diversity already. just wish there was more; im only like 50 hours into the game and im already pretty much max armor; full noble; all bought like the first hour i hit the city which kinda sucks ngl; wish there was a bit more diversity, even though i know it would impact the "realness"

really wish you could design your own tabard and shield logo..

great game regardless
so odd after 1st region i already sit on near max out gear or at least gear that make me really well protected and 3.6k gold . tbh i really have no idea what to do with the gold anymore . i used to train now i buy books . still 3.6k gold . i did explore and did every single side quest in 1st region and prob killled so many bandits and sold so many things .
At the point where you're able to make that kind of money you're pretty set for cash. There comes a point where you just have enough money that you've beaten the economy, so it's reasonable to have some kind of limiting factor even if it's not realistic that merchants wouldn't be able to afford an expensive piece of armour when they have loads of expensive pieces in their inventory.
