Alchemy: Secret of Equilibrium Vs Secret of Matter
I have choosen secret of matter and have brew Henry's quality potions.

Which of the perks would be superior; on one hand you can make more potions but on the other you can skip steps.

I have not tested Secret of Equilibrium as i have not adquired the perk reset potion yet so i would be interested in feedback from those who have choosen it and also the effects of dark arts apprentice perk.

Do those perks allow you to skip boiling or grinding ingredients?

UPDATE: When alchemy skill is maxed you can skip boiling and grounding and still get potions.

Just take both perks when you get another skill point.
You want to be able to make Henry quality potions, and the other perk overlooks small errors makes you more likely to get Henry quality if you get boiling times slightly wrong etc.

I'm not sure if it allows for major mistakes like not grinding herbs etc. I don't believe so.

Ah no, those perks are mutually exclusive. You can only take one.

I don't think that's worth it. Just get the perks that let you have 6 pots per brew with Henry tier quality, potion timings are really easy to manage and you'll save more time in the long run with this setup.

Also about the nighttime buff perk, the only way I've seen it be useful is when using all dried herbs it gave me Henry tier which doesn't otherwise happen.

5 pots vs 6 pots is not a big deal. I am using only dry herbs and it's always "Henry's quality".

If you hate alchemy, go into "error mitigation" perks really hard as it will speed up your alchemy minigame. You can make some serious short cuts if this is the same as KCD1.

the ranks are exclusive. not the perks it seems. for example, i took rank 1 of matter and rank 2 of equilibrium.

edit: i was unsure why this is allowed, but confirmed in-game that rank 2 of matter says it's exclusive with rank 2 of equilibrium, and vice versa. not that rank 1 is exclusive with rank 2, or that rank 1 is a requirement for rank 2 of the same.
Interesting...

Do you know if they allow you to skip boiling or grinding the herbs?

Here is post on reddit. You will not get the highest quality, but if you go for money it's viable.

my hope is that you can mix them up:

- first perk = secret of matter (so you get 4 per brew)
- second perk = secret of equilibrium (so i get 4 and can use dry herbs to still get best quality)

what you guys think? not tested yet but should work. would be freaking awesome.
Potions are very easy to make in quantity. As your skill improves, you brew more anyway. Unless you're intending for this to become your main money-maker, I'd go for both the "equilibrium" perks.
