Could someone help me out with the combat a little bit please?
I'm trying to do the combat training with Tombcat and learn the first combos. But something feels super off and clunky because I can't tell if it's doing the combos automatically or not and I feel like I'm fighting the controls. I want to aim at the left, but henry wants to go to the right, so I have push left on the analog stick 2 or 3 times before Henry positions his sword where I want him to.

The other issue I'm running into is Henry just pausing in mid-combo, this has been happening in open combat too and resulted in a lot of damage. I press R2 twice and do the first two attacks of the combo, then switch to the side it wants me to hit from on the last strike, but then Henry just pauses and holds his sword up like he's about to swing leaving me wide open and unable to finish the combo. Doesn't matter if I'm still mashing R2 with plenty of stamina, he just pauses and it's really irritating. Not realistic at all, just clunky and unpolished it feels like, but I could be wrong.

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm using a DualShock 5 controller too!

Because your opponent stop your combo by perfect block, riposte or avoiding ?

Some weapon are slow to react (mainly heavy weapon or long sword), this mean at low level it is hard to get the flow. When you try to make a combo, your 'rosette' will blink white for a mili second to show you what next position you need to go for the combo.

You need to lunch your next attack as you doing your strike. The combo; left - right - left or vice versa, you dont even need to aim your next move, when you strike from the right you automaticly go on the left side and so on. So for that combo you dont need to touch you joyestic.

Check out this video - it explains the combat basics pretty well:

Note how slow paced and methodical it is. It is much slower paced than most people expect. Fighting a tougher opponent can easily take minutes and you need to keep your stamina up and not rush and get killed.

Combos are overrated, especially since enemies can and will try their best to block/dodge/riposte you, it's better for you to hold your ground and use master strikes, in the first game stabbing completely trivialized the combat, in this one it's master strikes.

It's confirmed to be a bug with the Tomcat trainer. You can't progress beyond the up, right, left combo, tons of people are experiencing this right now. As for Henry pausing mid combo, that's a bug too. Have they talked about any patches yet do you know?

Don't know, my point is that the combat is much slower than people expect. The typical mistake is that they rush in and exchange blocks until they run out of stamina and get smashed - that's not how to do it like in other games.
