If you don't find the bones, you were late.
its the only quest i faild so far, because i didnt wanna replay ~30hours...
i guess you have to do it right away to get it succede
I tested this without spending any time with anything else from the start of the quest. Rode my upped Pebbles from point A to B and the bones were still missing. I even killed the "glass man" and the bones were still missing. One thing I noticed though, that the guy in the tavern who tells where about the bones are, was always beaten. I think that should happen only if you don't persuade the "glass man" that Henry and the priest doesn't know where the bones are.
You can report this (and any other bug) via this link, I just did:

I remember that quarter pig of a game. A second homage is that constant reminder "Hero needs food. Badly.".
I know captain obvious, immediately after accepting the quest I did everything as fast as possible but still nothing.
I actually tested this quest. It SEEMS, not 100% sure, that if the day changes during the quest, the bones are gone. I did it first asap but I started the quest late evening and it failed. When I loaded my save before the quest, waited until morning and started the quest then, the bones were there.
Some people might have problems not because they did smth wrong. May be some scripts have bugs. For me it was with the quest where you need to find the husband of the family from the forest hut in the south. After I cleared half of the quest I saved and quit. When I loaded the game it showed that I failed the quest. I reloaded previous save file. And it said that I failed quest again. So the quest became broken for my entire profile, not just one save file.
I agree. The first time I did this quest I gave the letter to the Abbot and went on to sell stuff at Kuttenberg before going back to dig up the bones…they were gone.
I redid the quest and went straight to Bylany to talk to Monk Slava, then Vashek, and the bones were there.
