But still. Story is the main reason why I am playing it.
Most of the gameplay is actually open world stuff. Yes, the larger quest chains contain cutscenes, but it isnt nearly as bad as you try to make it look like.
I highly doubt you played more than one hour and ontop of that, you´re yet another account that doesnt own the game on steam.
100% agree - worst of all you get locked in all the time by invisible walls for no apparent reason, so you can't even leave...That means nothing ever times out, so devs didn't have to put in alternative solutions to things running their course without Henry like in KC:D1 - its just lazy and disappointingly shallow...
KC:D1 did this so well - you could leave mainquest objectives be after the prologue - even in the monastery you could just grab the key and run out and do other things in the world. No KC:D1 quest forced you into endless death loops to learn guard routines bc you got forced to do stealth. Only real stealth mission in KC:D1 was meant to be failed, so even if you got discovered you didn't die, just had to flee without damage to the story...Now I feel there are no real alternative solutions to anything. And dialogues so often ignore what you chose its painful - worst quest for me so far was the wedding in Semine, where you got locked in the location for absolutely no reason, and got a ton of lame fetchquests - all give you the option to refuse - and give you the quest anyway if you do... Compared to KC:D 1 its just not good quest design - repetetive, generic, uninspired and boring.
Mainquest simply isn't integrated into the world - in the first game the cutscenes enhanced and explained what you did, in this one it just feels like a movie with some busy work for players inbetween - I don't think the problem with that are the cutscenes - its the actual gameplay inbetween...
Then the info dump cutscenes make sense for the history/Lore details.
This is a strong story driven plot, otherwise what exactly do you want to get out of this game?
I play on different accounts. I finished KCD 1 like 4 times on hardcore but i only have 30 hours on this one
Nobody believes you lol
- carrying sacks 5+ times for 5 minutes walking at a snails pace, i imagine devs sat in design meetings saying "yep guys, this is what every player enjoys so lets make them do it in six quests!"
- digging graves and burying multiple corpses for minutes, i imagine devs sat in design meetings saying "players are gonna love this so much so lets get them to do it in multiple missions!"
