Blacksmithing and selling- Am I doing it right?
I've been practicing my craft by hammering horseshoes and axes, making sure the axes are sharpened and trying to sell the items back to Radovan. I feel like something is a little off here though... The prices between the two items seems to be 28ish and 15 for the horseshoes. Whenever I go to trade though I'm only getting 4.7 or 4.8 for the items and it doesn't seem to go up with reputation or charisma gains either.

With scrap metal costing 2.4 for each piece, I feel like there's no point making anything but horseshoes for profit. I don't understand why the axes are so much lower in sale price, and I'm wondering if there's a better place to sell them or if these prices are tied to some kind of delivery system. I only just noticed the chest outside is tied to storage, am I meant to be depositing items in there for daily income instead?

This just seems completely off. Even with poor skills as a salesman, the axes shouldn't be .1 more than a horseshoe, surely? It's not a case of quality because I'm making level 3 quality axes and sharpening them up to 100. The potential price for higher quality also increases, yet still only nets 4.7 per axe.

The value and selling price are two different stats. Selling price is influenced by a variety of factors (condition, reputation, etc.)

There's a mod that could potentially help.

Fair Trade

The basic horseshoe that only cost 1 scrap metal is good for xp not so much for money. Your prices should be better with better reputation so I don't know what is going on there. Horseshoes really aren't money earners, make a set for your horse and make more just for the cheap xp. Also just had a thought, maybe the horse traders will pay more for horseshoes if they even have a trade menu.

Yeh, the devs may have made the selling prices so low to prevent making too much money too easily with blacksmithing, idk. The horse trader does have a trade menu where you can sell horse related items though, that I can confirm.

Yea but they're a better moneymaker than axes, which seems weird doesn't it? Axes require 2 scrap metal, and each one is selling for .1 more than a horseshoe. This is after I've sold a few bandit camps worth of stuff along with other things to Radovan, and acquired nicer clothes.
Just buy the common longsword recipe from him. You'll have a solid weapon, and a good item to sell.

Their plan doesn't work. All the bandits in the region have metal and plate armor pieces, and you can easily become rich just by killing bandits while traveling. By the time I was in kuttenberg I had 8k and a horse full of armor pieces to sell, so I was able to equip myself in the very best possible armor.

Buy the bearded axe recipe. 1 steel 1 scrap for high sales price. Much better than swords that require guards, etc.

Hmm, not sure this mod is what I'm after. Seems more like a cheat mode than a 'fair trade' mod, as it doesn't make sense to sell items to a vendor for the same price as purchasing. They're meant to be making a profit from trading, not prevent the player from ever losing money.

Do you mean quality instead of value btw? They are indeed different stats, but higher quality shows a higher selling price in your inventory if you 1:1 compare two items with only differing quality levels.
