Perfect block is a trap
I can only recommend everyone to use the block, but never to attack afterwards, in 99% of the cases the other person blocks your attack and goes on the offensive himself
that usually doesn't work out well, although this whole block-attack sequence of both looks really nice of course
rather use a feint, fake attack, change direction of attack at the last moment, brings much more

Perfect block for me is just a fall back defensive move to use if my master strike didn't work. If the opponent feints it can be hard to master strike so just block and reset.

Top attack, thrust works. Thrust spam works. Top attack spam works. Perfect block - attack, and dodge - attack works once. If you keep swinging after they will punish you. Perks you can take aid in these things, and if you spec into them it'll get a little better. Overall the system almost tries to make the combat into a qte, lol.

It worked if you block at the very short window prior to the attack land not after the shield icon show up. Nevertheless they made perfect block feels like regular block now so idk.

Try to use master strike instead of perfect block whenever you can. I'd rather do a riposte than engage. Also, evading is quite good, you often end up behind the enemy and they are unprotected.

riposte only when they enemy is decently hurt so that their stamina is low, if the enemy is 50% ish they wont be able to sustain a riposte trade and you will get hits in.

You could cheese any enemy in KCD 1 with Master Strike and it looks like you can do the same in KCD 2. I feel like multiple enemy battles in KCD 2 are easier because they 'wait their turn' more than KCD 1 enemies.

Maces are useless against heavy armor.
Perfect block works pretty reliable. It is kind of a stamina vs. stamina fight style as you both block and attack until one either misses or has no stamina. Recover (move back) if you have no stamina or after you hit the enemy once or with a combo.

I land hits after blocks like 60% of the time. If you are good with fencing it easy to hit. Problem most people have is they don't understand fencing or sword fighting mechanics and mash block and hit buttons without thinking and that will do nothing and you will be bouncing off each other like you said.

So try this

You see green shield, press block, now you got slowmotion time for half a second (dont press attack button while you have it!) to do a feint riposte, drag mouse/sword to the side enemy isn't covering with his weapon, THEN strike. Boom you hit enemy ez. Its just about being patient with controls, dont mash buttons because game automaticly, puts your sword in some positions and you have "slow motion to move sword, but if you press attack to quick you end up your slow motion and attack from a side that's "automatic" so you break the cycle by changing side then attacking.

This also works in any other situation and especially good for opening strikes. Hold attack button from one side, for exmaple left while far from enemy, close in and once in reach, still holding the attack button, drag mouse/sword to the right or up side, thats empty side and release. Its called feint. And works most of the time. Once you master it you will be doing Opening Feint combos. If you land a hit you can quickly press attack, button two more times for Right>Left>Right Combination which will probably end up hiting enemy on the last strike and killing him.

no im not. maces are useless against heavy armor IRL. You need a sword and attack weak points. That how this works. So stay silent and lie somehwere else
my technique is usually...

1. Battle Cry
2. Swing sword wildly
3. Loot

I noticed that myself. Personally, I just don't understand why they felt it was appropriate to provide a homosexual lover for your 14th century Noble's hand. They'd burn Henry at the stake in the 1300's for that...
