14 isnt really high if you are in Kuttenberg, where the hard cap for skills is 30 in KcD2.
Its really easy to reach 19-22 on Trosky (plus you can use potions, perks ect), if you talk with people (not only make skill checks, absolutly every dialog option gets you experiance on your speach skill).
So it isnt a "joke" and istn the fault of the game taht you are fail on checks.
Problem is that your are not enoth trained your skill and hasnt pick the right perks for pushing your speach skill checks (Jack of All Trades, Ladies Man, ect).
Note that sometimes the right answer is no answer at all, or a generic answer ! The game doesn't hold your hand, so use your brain instead.
Yeah I think this is important, as well as it being okay to fail speech checks, it just sends you on another path. You might even get a better experience just going with the failures.
This is the mistake I made when I first started. I just picked the highest number thinking that would most likely pass the check but it doesn't work like that at all. Always pick what makes most sense to say.
I still fail a lot of checks, but I haven't got my charisma outfit sorted yet.
I do have the jack of all trades perk aswell. forgot to mention.
I am considering starting again, now i have some grasp of the game, i will be more reluctant to start the main quest next time round.
For the Intimidation checks: A weak, unarmored peasant or a honest worker would have lower "Intimidation" points for you to succeed at persuasing him with that option, whereas a fully armored guard or bandit would have much higher point requirement for you to pass the Intimidation check
Charisma checks: It's basically a ♥♥♥♥ measuring contest, charisma-tied dialogues is just Henry going on a high horse and try to convince the person that you're talking to that you're a hotshit or an important person. Now, just like intimidation a peasant or a lower-class person would have a lower points requirement for you to pass the charisma checks. But on the other hand if you're trying to convince a nobleman, he can see through your high horse because he is a nobleman himself, so you must appear to be a higher class than him or in other words make your charisma stat higher. Charisma is the easiest dialogue check to pass in my opinion because you can easily get high-charisma clothing and buffs to max out your charisma stats (30)
If you're struggling with Speech checks because your speech level is still low, you can utilize the Fox Potion. Or if you're struggling to find a combination of high charisma clothingx you can also use perfumes to increase it momentarily.
I like to use perfumes or Fox potion if I can predict that there's going to be any form of negotiation in my next very step or if I'm heading to a noble.
