Was enjoying the game
Until I got to the whom the bell tolls mission and I wish I could refund the game. I crafted a ♥♥♥♥ ton of Savior Schnapps only to get to this point in the story where you cant save and you HAVE to save the idiot nobel from getting himself hung. Seriously didn't think they could do a worse job than the monastery mission from the first game. What a total joke

If you dont want some spoilers for this mission, dont read this. (idk how to add the spoiler tags)

Bruh ig i deleted my post.

To anyone getting to this point. Do the "pick up 3 sacks" and talk to the blacksmith, he will give you access to the upper area. Focus on helping people up there, itll net you a fairly easy way to save hans, by the 8th hour (8th bell ring). And itll save after each objective you finish pretty much.
And if you wanna save scum, make a "save and quit" type of save. You shouldnt need it, if youre using your rocks to distract guards, and just listening to walking. They have really easy patterns so you can stealth easily.

What is your problem with this mission?
For me, it wasn't a problem ;-)

Without giving many spoilers, you should have understood that you have to complete the mission before the twelve bell rings. To do so, you have to make your way to the captain and have a certain item with you. How you do this and get there, is up to you.

It is one of harder mission but KCD never was a easy game. In the other hand you have many diffrent ways to finish this so it is really good mission project.
I just sneak up to hetman and made for him potion. One of the guards was specially anoyinng and he saw me so I told him that I am an nobel (I stoled some cloths before) and them killed him.

It was one of the best quests in the game up until that point imo.

Bet you hated the monastery quest in the first game too.

I just loaded up my save to make sure I was not misremembering. You can strangle the guard that talked to you and steal his gear in less than a minute. After that just kill everything that moves. If they are dead they can't turn you in. Once the place is mostly empty it is a fairly easy quest.
The easiest for me was to just craft the digestive potion for the chamberlain. He gives you permission to go where ever so you don't really need to sneak unless you want to lockpick chests, etc.

if this mission irritates you, might as well quit playing. Your items get taken from you a lot in this game.

Such questionable plot tropes would be in further games either. For example, Miri Fajta quest has a spot where Jindřich could explain the whole story to both sides and end the feud like it was possible in KCD1 if you listened to the dialogues carefully. In KCD2 such an opportunity is completely blocked so the quest would continue.

personally i loved this quest, while i enjoy that the majority of the game is doing side quests and roaming the countryside at a leisurely pace, enjoying the forest and whatnot, its nice to have some change of pace (which mainly takes place in the main story) that adds some tension and you have to resolve something in a limited time. what i ended up doing was just talking to the chamberlain, offered to make a potion for him, which gave me access to the alchemists chambers. i even made some savior schnapps there and saved a couple of times while i was exploring, some poisons imagining i might have to fight my way out against overwhelming odds with some pinched gear. however just giving a digestive potion to the chamberlain was enough to grant access to the chapel, killing nobody was necessary and ended up doing this quest on the first try with no reloads...didn't really seem bad at all but maybe due to having higher alchemy and scholarship skills and passing the dialogue checks with the chamberlain, i suppose without that you'd need to find another means

It's the best quest in the game to this point. The closest to something like deus ex 1 can propose.

The point is you can still steal keys. If you dare to.

lol how do those people even manage to dress themselves in the morning. Like wtf - if this game would be easier it wouldn`t require any interaction at all, just go and whatch netflix bro, if pressing buttons is too hard for you. Can`t believe I am typing this but... yea, steam forums! :D

It's trash lol, do 2 boring missions and play some sneak and kill to go from one side to the other, not as bad as the countless mission where you follow an npc for hours but still nothing entertaining....

I don't think i found the keys to the needed chest in that mission, same in another mission where you gear is taken from you none of the guards have keys lol
