Thoughts on the forced stealth missions?
I didn't put any levels into Stealth, and so I'm finding the forced stealth missions EXTREMELY frustrating. You know the ones I mean. There's no other way to do them except stealth.

Am I alone in thinking they are (slightly) tarnishing an otherwise stellar game?

I also just stabbed everyone to death during Storm. I didn't even notice the reduced stats, honestly. Everyone died in like two hits and barely even tried to block.

I love KCD1/KCD2, but I hate those missions. There should be another way to solve them and the saving mechanism makes them so frustrating and annoying. The worst part of the game by far.

Do you mean For Whom the Bell Toes? If yes, you are not forced to do it stealthily. You just didn't find another way. Just talk to the interactable NPCs and see what happens

And there is. The OP just didn't find it

You may not even have to deal with reduced stats. It all depends on how much your tortured.

On my last run through that part, I was pretty strongly leveled, and managed to pass 2 of the 3 skill checks on the torture part. First was a successful bluff about not being important enough to know, then he believed the made up story on the scholar check, In the end I only got punched once, and with my vitality it was not enough to have any debuff when all was said and done.

So there are definitely other options, and if your not suffering from torture, its much much easier to simply kill anything in the way.
I got past the forest escape after torture "forced stealth" mission. ZERO stealth required. Just run past all the enemies, if your vitality is even remotely leveled you can run all the way through only stopping to catch your breath two times. I completed it on the first try, though I was fully armored as I didnt get tortured and managed to talk my way out of it.

I really struggle with the stealth. I'm impatient and impulse by nature and my mentality is going A to B and not scurrying around to G and X to get to B. I do the stealth, but cursing and scowling the whole time.

The stealth missions worked out very naturally for me and throwing stones helps a lot before you get your stealth lvl up, there is even "conspicuous" stat on your gear if you noticed, the less you have it the harder it is for the NPC to see you, but even i did not pay any attention to it and still got all the stealth missions done without any frustrations, on the contrary, it felt good to sneak around and take out lots of guards that way, you just have to pay attention and get immersed a bit, i went in with a complete open mind and had a really good time.

And this is the real problem, not the game "forced" stealth mission.

If a players is less impatient and impulsive, he will notice there is always at least a way to do the mission without really need high stealth level.

In the first part of the game the only mission where you have nothing and you need to escape from enemies is when you get tortured and you need to kill istvan and than escape in the forest but, you don't need really high stealth skill level, because the game have prepared at least a route where you don't need stealth.

Players should play with more attention before talk of a game.

I see, and are these "forced stealth missions" here in the room with us now?

There are multiple ways to do every mission I've come across, at least so far.
Storm is a forced stealth mission, it is difficult if you didn't max your stealth, I maxed out sword fighting and warfare that mission was a pain in the ass.
Edit, I want to say, it is easier than it looks though I will agree with that, but saying it isn't forced stealth is a ridiculous statement seeing as how Henry is wounded, tortured and has next to no stamina. Is combat viable? Sure if you wanna bottleneck for an hour and kill the dozens of people that spawn non stop until you get to the goal, but that isn't the spirit of that quest, and that isn't fun.

That isn't true, if you didn't know the mission was coming, (I didn't) and you just fought two battles with great armor (I did) after the torture session you will be overburdened and even with potions (Which I also had) I couldn't just run through, I had the miller's thieves stuff on and eventually figured it out, and upon figuring it out it wasn't too hard, but it is very frustrating getting to that "Figure out" part when I didn't buy this game for stealth.

It is a alot easier than it looks, once you figure it out. Storm isn't a bad quest for a stealth build, but if you are like me and don't have a stealth build it grinds teeth. Just make sure you aren't wearing armor, use the bushes, and time your kills if you go for a stealth kill (Killing the lonely guards helps immensely) It is doable, it's just with everything going on the game puts you into a panicked state and that's what kills people. (Like me lol)

Interesting. I didn't even consider trying it because there are so many whiners saying "I have a full combat build why are they making me sneak" so I figured people had tried fighting through and it wasn't possible - the way the mission was set out certainly didn't seem like this was a viable option. Fighting 50-70 guards, multiple at a time, with 10 Strength (that is, 4 from the story and another 6 from the maximum tier Artemisia pot) is a bit of an imaginative stretch and I kind of feel like you're trolling and haven't actually done this mission, but I'm going to load up the save at the beginning of Storm and try it when I'm off work this arvo.

Why should I troll about it?

You get a debuff because the situation before, but if you kill the first wave of guards in the cave they cannot flank (was 6 or 7 at once) but afterwards you can pull them in 2-4 waves at max. With poisen Arrows/Bolts you can kill 1-2 from range/poisen.

As they are all lightly armored (and I already have a Martin Level Tier 4 Longsword through smithing) you can win 2on1 without much trouble.

If you get hit, just drink a health potion and wait a moment to regenerate and repair your armor/weapon.

Repeat this until you reach the end of mission.

Some of the Guards even have additional potions etc. with them.

You dont fight 50-70 guards at once, if you are somewhat good with Range you can often pull them even solo and dont need to waste poisen arrows/bolts.

Additional I had around 16 perfect brew Schnapps so I could do several save's in between to prevent reset the whole mission if I fail at pulling.

Pain in the ass because it took around 1h, but no sneaking needed. If you ditch your armor and items so that you can run faster, it might even work with much less fighting because you just need to kill the partoling guards without them yelling and pulling guards from the street below up to you. But if you hit them with arrows/bolts they start yelling, while they sometimes dont if you directly engage with melee (not an option for snail-me as I was highly overloaded with stuff :D I'm a hoarder in RPGs).

EDIT:
I've played around 15h+ until this point and had Alchemy on 17 and Smithing on 16, did lots of training/fighting so my character was pretty strong overall and I had the whole Brunswick armor on.
Yeah I did this approach to and honestly, sneaking as frustating as it was, was easier cuz it was quicker. I am also a certified Storm quest Hater. The first part was cool, the woods can kiss my ass lol. KCD 2 is still the best game to come out in years even with this blemish, 10/10, would be spotted in the woods again.

Have yall not gotten PAST the wedding part yet, without spoiling anything it seems like it is a FORCED stealth segment. If there is a another way to do this segment, im all ears because it is in fact really tedious, esp since you cant use saviour schnapps.
When you do tasks for inhabitants at Trosky they give you permission to enter areas.

But hey who cares about trespassing if you save and know the map, rush to get items and get to the captain which triggers a cutscene and you are scot free?

And the 2nd time at Trosky when you need to get your stuff back, the guards are killable as these are Mission NPCs not open world NPCs. They are scripted for these missions.

Remember to separate mission spawned enemies to persistent characters who can perma die.

Be glad there is lots of "soldier" enemies in the forest for the escape cuz they are practically unarmored like hell and go down so easily. They alao are mission npc meaning they don't report crimes or anything.

I just murdered all of them. They also drop lots of loot so if you wanna train marksmanship you have tons of ammo and such.

I don't like stealth in main quest. And there are three huge parts with forced stealth. Wasn't fun for me. But had fun with Godwin as Cardinal. So I prefer deception instead of stealth.
