The first game is good though, so I'd recommend playing it sometime.
However i would still suggest you get and play the first game as its one of the greatest RPG's for all time and not playing it is a travesty lol....
2: I can't answer that, but like the first one, thoughout the game you are told in bits what happened in the first game.
3: the first one is also a good game and i would recommend it, tbh if you wanna play both, start with the first and then the second.
The first game is brilliant and polished, definitely get it.
The writing in KCD 2 just does not measure up at all. It feels like it was written in California. The first one seemed much more realistic and medieval. You could even go to modern day Rattay and see how it's hardly changed, other than paved roads and car parking spots.
Here's a video of a road trip through the area the first game is set:

The devs really paid attention to historical accuracy, even to the point of the town building DLC forcing you to rebuild the town in the way it became, not giving you free reign to do what you wanted.
If you're interested in a medieval 'simulator' get the original.
