Fighting Wolves - Method?
How do you fight wolves? If you block and try to ripost you always miss because they get out of range almost immediately. If you try to swing as they get close they seem to always bite your ankle. the only way ive been able to damage them is after they bite me.

I like using dollmaker poison on weapons. It prevents enemies from running, so wolves are sitting ducks after you hit them once.

I also like it for hunting, you hit stag with poisoned arrow once and it can only sloooowly walk away.

dont have that potion recipe yet, but ill look around for it. just now getting into hunting so its a good idea.
got to be really quick with the riposte after perfect block. Even with a huntsman sword it's possible.

you make it sound like the huntsman sword is the worst one to use.. why? length?

At that point it was the only single hand weapon I had. It was the crappy starting sword. Maces/hammers/axes are likely shorter in length, but I haven't tried fighting wolves with them.

I just mention that it's possible to hit them after a perfect block if you're quick enough.
fyi - switching to the T3 work axe i forged did the trick.

I find a longer sword makes all the difference, two handed swords have longer reach and you can hit them 2 or 3 times before they skip out of reach.
Block the murder them.

if you use a pike they willl just bite the stick
Be bit a million times and swipe at them with your amazing sword for them to shrug it off pretty immediately lol
You can provoke an attack by attacking yourself, immediately hit block after your attack and then attack again for riposte. The side of your attack is important depending on where the wolf is in front off you. This way you can land strikes without perfect blocks. Always keep your distance, circle around, they wont attack you as much when you stay mobile. When they run around directly at your feet, the lock on will make you stare downward causing you to spin in place and make them pounce you, as you are not moving.

Had the same issues early on ,now it's good (reached level 18) and I whack wolves no sweat
Riposte hit with longer weapons like Longsword, and when you hit fast with increased skill

You wait until they attack, repel the attack and then strike twice. This is how you defeat wolves, not any other way.
ever since i started using polearm (Bruncvik's T4 polearm in my case) me and Mutt eat dried wolf meat for dinner. and breakfast and lunch.

polearms negate the short reach of other weapons. and Mutt!

Shield, block, whack with sword.
Use a polearm. They never get the chance to attack.
I had a bad habit of holding W to get closer to them when I'd riposte and I'd miss every time. I learned that doing a riposte without any movement input, Henry will close the gap himself and you'll hit them every time.
