I see and kill Cuman on sight and get branded HUH!?
I thought they were enemy faction number one. I feel this is bugged. Unless Cumans can be non hostile but since when?

Why would they be hostile?
I believe they are deserters.

In KCD 1 I believe they were always hostile.

As you said they ware the deserters.
Even in this one you can find and fight cuman deserters.
My favorite 2 quests so far in map 2 has them.

But the ones on the road and in taverns etc aren't.

My guy you are in enemy land. Sigismund's land. Of course they will punish you for killing their mercenaries on sight. This isn't Rattay.

Wait till you encounter them at the tavern and guess what you receive a mission to serve them food and ofc locals there will be pissed about them eating their own food and you will protect the cumans which is cringe and weird as fu . ck

The Cumans were part Tingrist, part Christians. More Christians than Tingrist. So you are killing fellow Christians. Generally frowned upon.
If you want to get a good reputation with the locals, it's a good idea to follow local laws. Besides, there's more than enough bandits and other scum around to keep your blade wet if that's your preferred style.

Well, if you follow that mission through and keep your blade sheathed, there's a moral to this story. Cumans as a group may be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but the individuals are human beings trying to get by, just like you. Don't let your hate towards a group of people consume who you are.
Who witnessed and reported your murder? The villagers or the guards? I'm just curious. I killed 6 cumans so far, but there were no witnesses in the wild
