DELETED ENTIRE 22 hour playline on accident.
I played 22 hours. Got to the part in the story where you are at the wedding. I was watching people dance in the game and half looked and clicked what I thought was the save option in the menu. Then a screen I had never seen popped up showing playlines or something and I clicked on the first one. Now I realise I must have clicked on new game and overwrote my entire playthrough. WHY is NEW GAME right NEXT to save game? WHY is it so easy to delete your entire save file from in the game? Is there anything I can do to get my save file back? I am devastated. It should not be that easy to delete your save and the delete option shouldn't be RIGHT NEXT TO the save option!!!

This is happening to more people than I thought. I felt terrible when it happened to me at like 22 hours but I took a day or two break and then came back, skipped cutscenes, tried to just focus on the main story and skills, and also making better in game decisions, and I'm actually having more fun on this second time playing. Reason is I know how to play the game properly from the start so I get to re-do some missions where previously I made mistakes or just sucked at the combat but now I'm much better. 25 hours isn't so bad. At least it happened relatively early hour wise and not at like 100 hours or something. But, yeah the Devs need to fix this problem.

it's because they are ♥♥♥♥ at design
I am not entirely sure what happened but I lost a 60-hour playthrough, and because of time constraints, I don't think I can do it again right now. Is there any way of recovering the save files?

Easiest way is to find someone elses save file and add that to your game files. You can check your steam cloud files to see if your saves are there but probably not.

Developers that make this obvious mistake are showing their lack of experience in UI/UX and couldn't even be bothered to copy some best practices around stuff like this.
It's def present in this game and the worst one I've seen was during the early days of diablo 2 resurrected where you could misclick and delete your characters.
You shouldn't be able to fall on your keyboard and delete things, it's an obvious issue.

Add me to the list, 30 hours down the tubes.
Dont you have the option to switch between playlines? pretty sure kcd 1 had that

That's how you recognize young people, no old timer would have less than 2 manual save files.
You can only have said saves in one playthrough. When you press new game, it doesn't matter if there are 100 saves. It deletes all of them
for the new hardcore mode ###WARNING### guys backup saves! :AOEKnight:

This just happened to me at 97 hours. I was taking my sweet time with the game, and I had completed every available side quest and activity prior to doing the wedding quest. I was looking around for hidden treasures from some of the many maps I had collected. Somehow, my game loaded weird at the menu and I had to close and restart it. Then I go to continue as I had done a zillion times before. Somehow I misclicked or something and it deleted my playthrough with all of its saves. I had a second playthrough that I did early on right before Hans gets ♥♥♥♥ dumped on his head, so I guess I have to start over from that point. Holy crap! I had done so much! :( I feel like I don't even want to play anymore.
