Can I disable whistling while smithing?
Or mods for that?

Yeah, this is really frustrating. Been spending hours smithing yesterday and today, and that song is stuck in my head all night when I go to bed.. and even in the morning. Right now I just mute the whole computer so I don't go insane :'D

It fills a gameplay function. You want Henry to whistle while smithing in order to get the best results. If you remove it then you don't know when you are doing it well.

Just do a strong hit, then a fast hit, alternatively; Henry won't whistle.
He only whistle if you hit in a perfect rythm.

Nah, with a bit of practice you do not need that anymore...I even doubt that hammering in a rhythm really helps that much as long as you hammer enough and evenly. I even do horseshoes now without any re-heating and I do not follow a rhythm there I think, as the aiming is still somewhat weird.

I guess thats true once you really learn it well. But the whistle acts like a great guide. And getting the Henry quality is abit more strict i feel. Getting the gold quality 3 is really easy though.

Hm, I even get the special quality when I do minor things wrong (mostly heating too much), so I thought that it is more dependent on having the perk for it than on player skill. Maybe I am wrong, but that needs more testing.

Overheating it -a lot- and hitting multiple times the same spot are what damages the quality the most. The second worse thing to do is to leave spots without hammering; Henry will complain out-loud if you're doing a mistake anyway.

A little overheating is okay. I actually stop right when it overheats so I can forge the item in one go.

I tested it out. You just hammer it full strength and hit spots that sparks.

No need to be absurdly even, no need for a rhythm, no need for even hitting the same amount of times each side.

Plus, the rhythm of the song does not match the rhythm of the hammer.

I hate smithing in this game with a passion. So much so I near as darn it modded it out. It's is one bloody awful mechanic. Very disappointed to know that one of the DLC's is about smithing. I'll be missing that one.
You need perfect rhythm for the best tier weapons, you won’t get that with no whistling
Anyways, I like the whistling, it’s really cute and I love that it’s all music from the last game
