Have you tried tossing a pebble to make them walk away?
Not surprised.
I was in their discord mod team long ago, for KcD1. The head of community, fully tolerated very toxic mod behaviour because :" They are doing it for so long and know how to use the discord mod tools ".
It does not surprise me at all.
isn't even remotely as difficult as you guys make it out to be.. once you learn where the rooms are.
thomas up the tower , and the alchemy bench one above the scribe room.
one is from the kitchen, other is from the stairs above the bath.
I think they could make the time limit and saving abit better. Otherwise, as harsh as it sounds, it is kind of the "Tutorial/early game exam" quest if you understand the game. As beyond this point, being "ressourceful" will have a huge impact on outcome of quests later on.
1) you straight up don't need "top notch", it is not an hard lock. You can also just pickpocket an guard for a key (lot of them just looking into the yoonder). Don't really need thieving skills to do it.
2) You can get into the tower with permision if you just "had a reason to use it", for a "stomach medecine" example give you basicly free access to the tower. "noble knight" have better charisma and easier time to convince them.
3) There is plenty of ways to solve this, even in the gallow area there are other options. Even the blacksmith opens up more options if you help him out.
4) you can easily distract guards with a stone and just knock them out. At this point you should have atleast enough strenght to knock them out.
How I did it on my 5 bell run:
* Did the Charcol carry to get lockpicks from blacksmith, to help the chef open her chest (easy lock btw).
* Talked to the guy leader (forgot name) in the kitchen who had stomach issues, convinced I could make something for his belly issues, he gave me free access to the tower.
* With the kitchen ladys lock open, I had the herbs, I made the potions (because I invested in alchemy early, you have to done "something" with your character at this point) but I also know you can get it from other places if you don't craft it yourself.
*Gave the guy leader(forgot name) him the medcine, he gave me full access to more or less everywhere (Including chapel). I had to craft a fever potion and I was done.
There is a lot of options, the blacksmith line, Priest line, the gallow area had people that can help. Theft of keys and just "knock out" people if you want to. etc
you have to make the potion first in the other tower, and theres a few things you can do to bypass the entire sneaking thing all together
if i remember right :
- carry the bags of coal and report in to the blacksmith
-BS him into letting you use his forge so you gain access to the courtyard
-make the horseshoe he asks for and steal the lockpick from the stash near the anvil
-talk to woman standing next to the smithy, needs you to open a chest and doing so gives you access to the kitchen
-talk to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the kitchen and try to convince him to let you help him with his
Diarrhea problem (if successful you gain access to the alchemy tower to brew the captains cure. you can steal the digestive potion for diarrhea guy from the lowest floor of the guardhouse near the fighting arena where brother nicotinus hangs out so you don't have to brew it)
- if unsuccessful you still need to sneak into this tower to brew the cure for the captain
theres 2 ways to get into the tower where the wounded captain is without having to sneak
-if you previously managed to convince diarrhea man, give him the digestive potion you brewed or stole
or
-return blacksmith, give horseshoe to horseguy and he'll tell you about a rosary he lost
-play dice with brother nicotinus to win the rosary back (you need 20 coins for this, pickpocket or steal them somewhere)
-you can give the rosary to the horse guy for 3 lockpicks or
-talk to the praying guy near the smithy and tell him who has the rosary, ask him to let you pray in the tower and he'll accompany you all the way to the top
Thanks, I was moving it around too much I guess.
This would all be fine if I would not have to replay the entire fkn thing over and over again because of some minor mistake or a bug.
1) Carry bags
2) blacksmith work, no need to finish
3) loot something to sell
4) buy lockpick
5) probably can go straight to potion making. I first went to the high tower. So go where potion is, kill a guard who's hungry in stealth, make your way up there's no guard whatsoever. And just brew a potion
6) deliver potion. unavoidable guard can be distracted with stone throwing.
finished
i get you. i had to restart as well after sneaking up the tower without the cure
sadly this seems to be a theme in this game. there's another storyline mission later on, one involving a pitcher of red and white wine. if one of the pitchers bugs out and dissapears during the 3rd section of that quest, you're screwed and have to revert all the way back to the beginning of that (several ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours long) quest
I have now done most sidequests, except for some mundane ones.
I now have to get fancy clothing for the wedding. I bought all parts, level 3 gold, but apparently its not enough,
Another ♥♥♥♥♥ feature. You have to buy clothing, waste money on it and only THEN the salesperson tells you if its appropriate or not. Sucks. No indication of what I could do better and so on.
Its these things that ruin the fun for people, unavoidable a... fu**ery.
But then, even without a sidequest, you just go to a guy who sells nice clothes in the first city you appear in game, and you look at clothes that look nice right, and they also up your charm, it's literally shown in stats before you buy. Please pay attention and start thinking. I found such nice clothes that people called me "Sir" before the wedding.
