Swords any good?
Title, I'm still new to the game and just encountered a bandit with modest armor. I use a sword and though I can easily kill his friend...I literally do nothing to him, occasionally ill get some damage off because I hit an unarmored part but its rare. I fought him for so long at one point my sword broke.

Debating if I should continue down the sword route or if I should just pick up a heavy weapon or polearm at this point.

try han's sword. I hear its thick
For armoured enemies the a mace or perhaps an axe would be the better choice. Since u cant change your weapon while fighting u have to choose a weapon and a sword is overall pretty good. When you get better with your sword (leveling up, learning kombos etc. and also train yourself in the games combat system a sword can be pretty good agaisnt armoured enemies too. But yes if you wanna counter armour a sword aint the best choice which is also realistic and intendet by the developers.

Swords are good mainly due to their speed and allowing the master strike.
When dealing with an armored enemy, try and dodge their attacks and get a strike in on their back. its more likely to hurt them than if you hit their plate.
But overall dealing with armored opponents is easier with a hammer than a sword.
Polearms are also just really good, but they break easily and need maintainece often as a result.
