If you talk to the guy he f*cking tells you.
You literally just have to pick the "Who are you" option. Hes a noble thats been held hostage for 2 years because his father took Wenceslaus side when the league of lords mutinied. They captured him to force his father to make pro-sigismund decisions.

Seriously, did you just skip through the talking part?
many of these checks depend on charisma, or perhaps other unknown variables.

try not to fly of the handle so easily, its not good for the mind
Found this about the guy. You see him later and he gives you 500 and a nice crossbow.

Yeah, if you have your swanky noble charisma gear on hell explain he was a political prisoner for a year and a half, managed to escape and is trying to head home to his family. Whether thats true or not, idk. Just gave him 300 & sent him on his way, whether he's legit or conning me it's a tiny amount to cough up for curiosities sake

If you pass a hard speech check, he's a noble thats trying to get back home.
While the ragged man can appear in Semine or Trosky, he'll always ask for the same thing. He claims to be a down-on-his-luck noble named Odolen von Wotitz. He's asking for 150 Groschen, which isn't cheap during your early travels in KCD2. It might seem like a lot but you should consider giving him the money.

That's because you can run into him again later in the game. He's riding a horse and dressed in fancy clothes, showing that he really is a noble. Odolen will thank you for your kindness and give you 500 Groschen. He also give a crossboiw

The ragged man can appear elsewhere too.

I wondered this, I refused to give him the money, followed him up the road and knocked him out to see what he had, but he only had his clothes (and 0.1 groschen). Maybe I should have followed him for longer to see where he goes.

he leaves the map, I followed him all the way to the map edge.

if you have an Additional 150 there will be an option to also give him an additional 150.. so (300) total. His story is he was a nobleman who was sent to prison and he escaped. Giving him the full 300 he simply takes it and walks off. I'm not sure if that will come back to help or bite me in the end. I had 450 total so it was a LARGE chunk of what i had. I guess we'll see what happens.
I gave him 150. Ended up running into him while traveling in region 2 on the road later. No quest but he thanks you and repays you. Gives you like 500 groshen (maybe it's more if you give him more) and an item of some kind. I can't remember

Info about this beggar. I gave this suppose nobelman the 150 and went on my way after that. Im currently in the kuttenburg map. Was fast traveling to the devils den when an encounter popped up. It mentioned about a certain nobleman and you recognize him. Stopped to encounter and it was indeed the beggar (nobleman). Talked to him and he gave me 500 plus an lvl3 ornament crossbow for our help. I'd say it's worth it. Though I wonder what difference the reward will it be if I'd had given him more money.

I just came across him for the first time in Act 1. I gave him the 300, then knocked him out and tried to take it all back... he only had 150 in his inventory so I guess he ate the rest. Oh well. I let it be, because I want to see if he rewards me extra later.

You eventually face him later on in the game and he pays you back - he's a Noble after all

If anything - go for EVERY roadside encounter in the game, it's super :D - even ran across Death himself which was a tad disturbing

Turns out he's a nobleman who escaped a hostage situation, at least that's what you find out if you pass the speech check. Dunno where this leads, maybe he'll pay it back later...

I found him! he was in Raborsch in Kuttenberg Area wandering with a Guard. He gave me Back my Money and a expensive Crossbow.,
He can be anywhere. In my latest playthrough he was in Laurence's inn in Zhelejov. Meeting him later is similarly random.
