CryEngine 3.8+?
It seems Kingdom Come II is still on CryEngine 3.8+, and later improved upon in-house by Warehouse. But Kingdom Come II seems not be on CryEngine 5.7 or 5.11, the latest version.

Anyway they improved the performance, and the game is great.

Source: indication are some game files, that are present in CryEngine 3.x, but got renamed in CryEngine 5.6+
Makes sense that it is an old engine build. The game doesn’t even have HDR support or raytracing.

Because of this it does run very well, feel polished while looking reasonably good.
They have a custom built version of CryEngine which makes it close to impossible to update to the latest one when you have changed half the engine.

Also the game has been in development for years. You don't just switch engine version halfway through development (unless it's minor versions) as that could have a huge impact on the game and break things.

They probably did not have time for a engine upgrade, seeing everything can get broken in the game if you do a upgrade. So that means they have to fix allot. I rather have what we have now than a none-optimized buggy mess.
