That's why people often hunted on horseback and with hounds. ;)

Turns out you can in this game too
Are there no one-shot kills with Henry skilled up and player skill?

Bowhunting IRL risks lost quarries if the hit's not just right. Is this not possible in KCD2?
That's how hunting is, even hitting an animal in the head won't mean instant kill. What the game is missing is a trail of blood, that would help.

I think the issue is hunting is only useful in the beginning since it doesn't yield that much in value. So if you already progressed far enough to have horse and your dog chances are you won't feel like hunting, other that for the sport of it.

I only did little bit of hunting to gain experience in archery and only went for one shot kill hares. But then I'm only 20 hours into the game, maybe there's more to hunting than I know. For now, for me, it's a pass. Just like alchemy and forging, unfortunately.

Get your dog back, if you haven't done so already, and tell him to sic the animal you shoot as it runs away. He'll chase it down and once it dies, he'll bark until you find it. Works really well.
you could .. poison your bolts/arrows.
also meat turns legit after you dry/smoke it.

as mentioned earlier in the thread, be on horse, use mutt.
later on, due to weapon/ammo/perks upgrades you either 1 shot or die fast due to poison/bleed.

hunting would be pointless, you do not want your meat to get poison, want clean healthy meat, clean kill, not poison, at least in real life, that is.

I mean.......... what did you expect? That's how it works in real life lol.

I'm fairly sure ppl that use a form of arrows with the blow darts use ..poison from the trees to kill the animals fast.

Also you don't have to use THE poison, just use lullaby to sap their energy, or anything that is similar to that.
start small, work your way up. great way to practice archery, level it up fast, and get free bows is to get a bunch of cheap arrows. find a bandit camp with an overlook or any place where they will have to run around something to get to you. shoot one until they are dead. usually one is stunned and takes three arrows before others are called to attack. whenever people are starting to make their way towards you sprint off into the woods behind a rock and wait an hour. repeat.

also some hunting spots have overlooks that make it easier to spot game without running through the bushes.

But the real life hunting has a trail of blood and one shot heart kills, no? None of that is in the game or did I miss it?

You could always take your bow and arrows to the local butchery and start practicing.

You been hate brigading for the past few weeks, are we supposed to ignore that now?
Or how does that work?
I remember in 1st game you could hit an animal near heart it would bleed and die from 1 arrow . usually it takes me 2 arrows to kill but sometimes due to how thick woods the animal run away so not always get the kill . with dog + 1 shoot usually do . my skill with bow is only 9 atm i dont use it as much as my sword
