Don't let them run? The wolves will run if you don't do enough in "X" amount of seconds. The short answer is use a hunting sword, the better choice is a Burgher hunting sword. It strikes fast enough to hit 3 times before the wolf can move away and has a bleed chance of 24%.

Np, the hunting sword is completely overlooked by the vastly superior military sword, but the Burgher hunting sword is just OP early game.
Its a good Solution thx, but i think its stupid that wolfs attack you and then run away bevore you can kill them. More if this wolves are quest targets.

Enemies in general aren't stupid. If they feel they are going to die/lose they will run, wolves included. Real wolves would do the same if their pack started to wane.

Real wolves would not survive a sword hit. Only if the sword is not sharp. Human Enemies btw never runs away it happens very rare that a human enemy give up.

Living in a country where wolves are a threat to farmers, it's not uncommon to find wolves with very old gunshot wounds, even to the chest and face. They are machines, and we treat them how US treats bears in terms of hiking safety and advice. I really wouldn't doubt that a wolf could survive a hit or two with a regular common sword of the era.
Send Mutt after them
Don't have Mutt yet, this is the Mutt quest. And Henry can't seem to even hit the wolves half the time I swing. It's incredibly stupid and frustrating that he won't actually hit the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things. I had swapped to a pitchfork for the reach, and that was much better. But he couldn't finish them off, they just ran away. Stupid game mechanics top to bottom on this one. They found every way possible to be frustrating and prevent success. Brilliant.

I don't understand how Henry can be locked onto a target 2ft. away and just whiff on it every time. What was the design intent there? Does the boy need glasses?

lol, thought exact the same as you. The game needs some fine tuning combat wise.
The frustrating thing is there's not even a way to over-ride Henry's poor aim. I have no idea what the ♥♥♥♥ they are thinking with that.

WHY DOES HENRY SWING AND MISS??? IS HE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BLIND???

Just hide where they were and they will come back.

Wolves run away, you chase after them, catch them and start slashing, only to hit air

i use a longsword. parry wolf > double strike > wolf dead

yeah the longsword is slower but it hase more reach so you can land 2 hits and with the damage its enough to kill a wolf with 2 hits.

oh and for the people that cant hit wolfs at all.
never strike first at wolfes or dogs. you will miss as good as allways.
let them attack then parry them. and now is your chance to hit them.

I did starting with half hitpoints (did brawler quest and haven't heal). I run toward them to be their target otherwise they would kill the holy ram, then I run away a little, the wolves were distanced, so even when I failed to block I could hit twice with the bearded axe (no problem with range) after they bite me on the foot. The third didn't die and I chased him.....seems impossible to hit....you need a potion to increase the stamina regeneration.... even with the effect of the potion I chased him for two minutes without hitting and he bleed to death.
Otherwise you need to grind vitality and get the perk to get a better sprint. In Kcd 1 you could get It earlier.
