It's not a riposte. The enemy does normal ripostes alongside master strikes, and yes, unarmed master strikes.
Try it out in the second map on some high level enemies and use your fists to fight them, you'll see them master striking your attacks and pulling you into animations.
Why would I not be able to perfect block a riposte?
I'm not talking about trying and failing. The green shield does not appear at all.
Your weapon position should be the opposite of the enemy attack, if he attacks left you put your weapon on the right, same for up and down.
Then at the moment the shield icon appears to perfect block, DON'T BLOCK, attack instead, that's it.
Both probably right. According to a mod just released, the perk is in the game along with an upgrade, so it seems like something we learn later in the story.
The master strike only works with swords.
Shame really I was hoping to try out polearms.
