Master strikes?
How do you execute unarmed master strikes? I've seen enemies do them but I seem to find it impossible to do them, same with riposte master strikes both sword and unarmed.

Enemies regularly, and now later in the game, almost always master strike my riposte. I however don't understand how to do the same. I know that tomcat spoke of riposte master strikes briefly but he never made me practice them so I've got no clue.

I've tried changing the angle after an enemy perfect block to the opposite of their riposte but it doesn't matter at all.

Is anyone able to perform these types of master strikes? If so please tell me how.

Just to back up what OP said, I have started to see what appear to be unarmed master strikes. I stumbled upon a camp while fast travelling and challenged me to an unarmed fight and the guy would sometimes interrupt my punch to punch me in return. It's not a clinch and I couldn't react to it at all.
It might seem crazy what im about to say....

thats a riposte :theskull:

It's not a riposte. The enemy does normal ripostes alongside master strikes, and yes, unarmed master strikes.

Try it out in the second map on some high level enemies and use your fists to fight them, you'll see them master striking your attacks and pulling you into animations.

Why would I not be able to perfect block a riposte?

I'm not talking about trying and failing. The green shield does not appear at all.

it makes sense though

Only for swords:

Your weapon position should be the opposite of the enemy attack, if he attacks left you put your weapon on the right, same for up and down.

Then at the moment the shield icon appears to perfect block, DON'T BLOCK, attack instead, that's it.

Yeah it makes sense but unless the other weapons have other advantages 90% of people are just gonna use swords all game

Also wondering how to do an unarmed master strike. I also thought it was only for swords but the unarmed perk "Start me up" clearly states unarmed master stike.

Indeed it does. There probably is some trainer who can teach you how to master strike while unarmed, like you need a trainer to learn how to master strike (as well as combos_) with a sword. But it's probably not in the starting area. Barber Fiala is supposedly the best fighter there yet he can't teach you any tricks, only help you level up.

Keep in mind act 1 at the minimum is 40 hours long so you wont get to act 2 for a while where you can learn pole arm and unarmed tricks.

Both probably right. According to a mod just released, the perk is in the game along with an upgrade, so it seems like something we learn later in the story.

Sometimes I curse how long this game is but it feels like every hour breezes by faster than I can think

The master strike only works with swords.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
This is a mod that datamined two perks for unarmed [www.nexusmods.com] that allow Henry to do Unarmed Master Strikes and "disarming strikes", they never made it into the game's release for some reason though.

Seems they left it enabled for NPCs. I think I just saw an NPC do it. Maybe they'll patch out npc unarmed master strike master strikes or patch in player unarmed master strike. Hoping.

there's a perk named "Start me up" that says, it makes your regain some stamina after executing combo or master strike in unarmed combat
I'm hoping someone will develop a mod to add master strikes to Heavy weapons and Polearms. There is already one for Unarmed cause it was supposedly cut content that works. But as it stands I see no reason to use other weapon classes when swords are the only one with a crucial combat mechanic.

Shame really I was hoping to try out polearms.
