Lockpicking feels impossible..
I play on PC with a controller. In KCD1, I would switch to keyboard for lockpicking, as it was much more stable than rotating two different thumbsticks.

In KCD2, even with switching to keyboard, lockpicking feels horrendous. The cursor floats/wobbles all over the place on its own. Once it has wobbled out of place, the lock stops turning. So you are trying to compensate for both the passive wobbling as well as trying to guess whether the lock is going to rotate or not...
The game basically punishes you for not holding the cursor in place, when it's the game itself literally forcing the cursor to move, despite how steady/accurate you are.

How are guys finding it? Does the wobble reduce with higher skill or what?

I'm still in the first area, but I picked my first hard lock earlier today. So far, it seems no different than the first game to me. You suck at first (curious since Henry was practically a master-thief when I left him), and with skills and perks, and training it gets much better.

Just like before, you suck until you don't.
Why on earth did they removed simplified lockpicking. It is horrible im stuck on MQ bc of this bs mechanic.
Lock picking is only hard because your skill is low.
There is multiple ways to raise lock picking without lock picking.

KCD II lumped everything into thievery. Which means pick pocketing raises it as well. You can practice pick pocketing in the mill for free.

Talking to some of the thievery background NPCs yield training options to train the skill.

Quest rewards and thank yous from NPCs can also raise the skill.

Craftsman perks has a +3 skill bonus, drinking has a +4 skill bonus.

Buy a bunch of lock picks and keep breaking them until it ope with that 10% chance to unlock when a pick breaks perk.

If you get your lock picking high enough with various methods and activities you can literally walk and unlock people front doors every night.

At 14 skill I could pick hard locks and break maybe 1-3 lock picks, and 17 skill I could pick hard locks without breaking any lock picks.

there's lock even high level can't lockpick , especially those chest found in wilderness. i have thievery level 22 and i have found chest that near impossible to open, but i have a breeze to open some "very hard" lock found in the settlement. poor design not question ask.

It gets a lot easier when you level up more. It was hard for me at first too, but eventually got really easy towards the end of the thieving levels

No. It does not. Bugs ruin this quest.

That's bullsit. It feels horrible on mouse too
Honestly it's a skill issue and i'm not even trying to be rude. The higher the skill the easier it gets.
your hands stop shaking once you level up your skill.
becomes very easy.

*SIGH* That achievement occurs the first time you succeed at ANY very hard lock.

After I reached like 20 lockpicking I do not think I have broken a single lockpick. As MANY others keep pointing out it is a SKILL ISSUE. If you skill is low then your hands shake, the same way a low bow skill makes it hard to hit anything because the aim keeps wandering.

Man up/ovary up and break some lockpicks and get your skill up then it ceases being an issue.

It's made to loose, just spent 22 lockpicks twice because I saved before and still can't open the hard lock, even with 15% more durable lockpicks, as lvl 14 in thievery. It's already damn hard to find the correct spot cause it wobbles the whole time, let alone moving it and staying in place making a circle.
The guy who was responsible for this segment can play as torturer in the next KCD...

VH locks aren't all the same difficulty. Some are closer to hard, some are much more difficult. Level 14 is borderline for VH picks in my experience, a few will be doable but most will not. So use potions or level up a bit more and then you should be all good

so what you need to do, is go to the millers house there is a chest you can lock pick all the way up to like level 9-10 then after that go around doing mediums til you level up more
