There are console commands to save without schnapps. Google them easily.
I will say that I was having issues getting rooms in inns but I purchased some high Charisma clothing items from the tailor in that first town (took some gold though) and made them into one of my outfits and now instead of dismissing me out of hand they will usually let me stay since the outfit raises my Charisma by 10 or more points over my standard armor. .
if you really want to save without using cheats (console commands), using the alcohol and when your not near a bed you own you have to use the "save and quit" option.....
yeah a game in 2025 where to save when you want it returns you to desktop and forces you to reload the entire game LOL
p.s. save and quit only has one slot so if your quests bug out (which they do) then your totally fooked
The save system is indeed a bit weird, i know why they have done it this way but in the end it adds more boring content replay then it raises the fun. I never use cheats at a game and think i must deal with it somehow.
