Can't talk to hermit, even though I have all the proves?

Hello,
So I can't talk to the hermit, even though I did everything there was to do. I spoke to the townsfolk, robbed the grave, spoke to the witnesses and examined the horse. Why is there still no option to talk to him? Please help, I really dont want to start over. I also, of course, reloaded and restartet the game, as well as my computer.

no point talking to him, not gonna say anything more but just go to him. dont afraid of killing, it wont hurt the story at all.

You just have to wait, I was on the verge of knocking him out myself to check his pockets but then it finally gave the talk prompt again, may also be I went back to the grave where the loot duped itself and it reset his interaction or that I used all the dialogue options on the townsfolk until they went grey even if it gave no new information

I already knocked him out, but I think im supposed to find a diary, which he didn't drop, at least according to some guides in the internet. Can I progress the story without this book? Do I just have to dig out the sword and thats it? Thank you.

If you robbed the grave (presumably removing the sword that was stuck in it) you're already past the part of the quest where you need to talk to him. You did it backwards. He's useless to you now. Take the sword that was in the grave to the blacksmith.

Exact same thing happened to me.

He just sat there and ignored me unless he caught me stealing from him, in which case he attacked.

Eventually I just ran to the sword and grabbed it myself.

Not the grave with the sword, the commemoration marker or whatever with a sack of stuff buried under it

Its not a bug. Go upstairs and remove the last of the 3 sacks and under it u find a diary. Read it and u have another speech option with Hermit

By the way, did anyone manage to reforge the Hermit Toledo sword at level 4 (with the appropriate perk of course)?
