Job as a Smith

Maybe a dumb question, but what is the Smith expecting from me now as i work for him? It seems he expects nothing and he even gave me a room. I can buy materials, make stuff at his forge and sell it to him if i want, but what happens if i go away for a few days? Do i have any obligations?

Also would like to know, He told me i need to make horse shoes etc. When i returned he seemed to have forgotten i had even been there...minor quibble.

The blacksmithing is just an intro to the crafting system. His real quest is the cart and Hermit quests. You can just use the stuff you make to sell for some early money.

btw there some quest require you to know blacksmith . for example there is a quest about a silver axe . not going to spoil but its one cool quest
