But block/parry combat system can be fun.. in 1 V 1 situations mind you ... else.. it's an real mess .. 🤺
So yes I fully agree. Combat in KCD is trash.
It's even better than in the original, which was already great.
Just because you don't like something or you're not good at it doesn't mean it's a failure.
But due to the counter system, numbers don't matter at all (except for archers), all you need to do is ignore the entire game and just look for the shield -> sword icons. Don't miss any, and you can cut through 50 heavily armored guys.
It's too bad, I also love KCD but combat isn't working out beyond duels, which are the rarest occurence in there. I could beat 5 bandits frontally abusing ripostes, but I'll prefer taking 3-4 with sneak attacks to have a pleasant final engagement in close combat.
You will no longer have to interact with half the combat system like combos and perfect blocks or perfect dodges. Tap and win. No more 5-minute back-and-forth slogs where you're dancing around like two ballerinas.
Best way to make a bad combat system enjoyable is to make sure you don't have to suffer using it.
You got to run into them rather than back up. bang out some keys, waggle your mouse around and win.
Now there is some player skill envolve with the 'RPG luck' overiding the end result. Frustrating yes, but give that sense of progression none the less.
Woke thing aside, the fact that I saw the combat was the same in the trailers made me hold off on buying the game. After everything I've seen I'm definitely not buying. I'm actually astounded that they somehow made the combat worse by not only not fixing the clunkiness of it, but ALSO making it extremely boring now.
Story was the least interesting aspect of the first game and they seem to have doubled down on it with this one. They kept bragging about this story but they forgot they're a game first and foremost. If I want story, I'll read a book. They're much better at telling stories. Now the story has a black Muslim lecturing you about how Europeans are savages and the combat STILL sucks, by all accounts somehow worse than the original.
