Lock picking not working?
Is it me or there is something wrong with the game. The ball never turns gold no matter what I do. Do I have to learn some skill before I'm able to lock pick?

Same issue here, not sure what's going on. Allegedly you can lockpick anything with enough skill and precision but I spent a FULL HOUR trying to get the ball to turn gold. Guessing this just straight up doesn't work lol

have you gone to the miller who gives you lockpicking pratice if not anything other than very easy is probably impossible. Even then it takes some skilling up to do medium and higher. My tip is do what you need to get to medium, drink a strong theif potion (can't remember the name) and then go on a picking spree in kuttenberg

If it says the lock is too difficult, it will absolutely be too difficult.

Whatever the highest level lock you can do (medium to start) the cursor floats in a varying sized circle fast enough to make picking the lock difficult even with practice. It will require both some practice with keeping the circle centered as well as raising the skill to make the movement smaller/slower.

By the time you have practiced on enough easy-medium locks to start doing Hard you will be great at the active mechanic portion. From there it will be grinding levels and picking perks to get you through locks.

I havent explored the mechanic too much but that is because i dont want the game to be too easy and just steal everything id ever want on my first playthrough.

your thieving skill isnt high enough. you have to start with very easy or easy locks. best way to level is wait until night and pickpocket people while they sleep.
