Why "Q" quick for replies as standard key binding?

I was just wondering why the standard shortcut for quick responses or battle cries is "Q"?

Like you are using WASD during travel or combat and then comes up the option, depending whether you use your ring or middle finger to press 'Q", your own finger then is in the way of your other fingers to press either "1" or 2"" and in situations that ask for quick reaction it is just uncomfortable or bothersome.

I was thinking at first "E" would be the better option , but then a similar issue would arise if you need to press "4". I dunno, maybe binding it to the middle mouse button would be more ergonomic.

I was just wondering if anyone else agrees or if I am the only one who finds the "Q" button to be the sub optimal choice and rather rebinds it.

Right-Alt or Left-Control or anything would be better than Q.

I end up pressing 1 and angering the person! :)

I think this is a great remark and I would make it so when somebody makes a comment to you you can hold alt -> to look at them and because your camera is locked onto them you can move your mouse to select a reaction. tho there are possibly a few better solutions. Atleast there is a descussion about it now.

I'm lucky. My mouse has a 7 button detachable side button panel that gives me the 1-7 so I just use my mouse for that but yes it's very unergonomic the way it's set up by default. Maybe F would work better?

I don´t know why but I think it was an awful choice. I´ve changed that and set it on a thumbs button of my mouse which is much better.

The way the game has the quick chat for doing taunts and battle cry is not very smooth and can accidently press the surrender instead.

Here is a mod that will automatically do a Battle Cry around the start of combat as well as Taunts during battle.

i just use alt. technically alt is "look at" but you can reply to them with it instead of using the reply key.

I do this as well now, but I feel like that wasn't possible at the start.
Suddenly I didn't notice the problem as it kept suggesting left alt, so
it might have been patched.

Even there is rebind, it's just too many button for normal humankind, very few humankind can handle many button but most humankind do like simple and easy, I can see why this can be frustrating try to reactive to the game with many buttons combos.
