Crime with time
Did anyone play long enough to know if eventually with time, crime like stealing might be forgotten by the guards?

Apparently I was noticed when stealing from the guards but now I have to go back to town for a quest which I can't do without them trying to arrest me.

There is a perk that reduces the time it takes for guards to forget you.

This implies even without the perk they will.forget you.

I don't think the crime will dissapear if they saw you, as then you either have to pay it off or get punished for it. If you do too many crimes you can get branded and then you can't really do business with anyone in that town for a while (brand will dissapear over time).

If no one saw you steal but they do a random search on you and you have the stolen items on you then it will be the same and you have to pay/be punished. If you have stolen something during the night then the next morning the guards will do random searches on people, so beware if you have the items on you.

Stolen items become 'normal' after a while so stash them on your horse or chest and after a while you can sell them at regular shops again.

Yeah, my situation is that at night I was almost caught, but they didn't, then for few days everything was fine, until I came back one day and got stopped because they put 2 & 2 together of their missing stuff and me loitering around. But looks like overtime it will go away and they will forget
