I want to try the game but...
There is no demo available, and I can't just throw away 60 euros like it's nothing just to find out later that the game is not for me. What options do I have?

You are allowed to refund a game during first 2 hours of playing
It's 15% off on green man gaming. And under their XP offers there's a coupon for another 3% off.
Otherwise just wait for a deeper sale. Game isn't going anywhere.

Pick up the first game on sale
Watch Streams, Videos, Tests... or skip.
First two hours might not show much of the Gameplay, as it takes a while to throw you into the story/openworld via cutscences etc.

I was never sure what actually got you gold status.

yes so instead of steam refunding if he somehow doesn't like this masterpiece, you would have him commit a crime

You can play the first game.its a very similar experience, and if you loved the first one for sure you'd love even more the second.
The first is on discounts most of the time and costs very little to purchase
Game will not be worse after some month. Wait for Summer sale. Or go Work ;)

2 hours isn't enough to know how you'll feel about the game. The intro/tutorial takes almost 5 hours to get through alone. To be honest though, I'd recommend passing because this isn't really a game, it's a medieval simulator that requires you to do more hard work than play that isn't in the least bit rewarding. You'll spend more time on youtube trying to figure things out than actually playing it. It'll probably be free on Playstation plus in a couple months because it's not doing well at all right now. Mostly because the main character was changed from straight to Bi-sexual for no apparent reason in the second game and the anti-woke crowd is going nuts.

But in all fairness, changing his gender didn't serve the plot or story at all so it's hard to believe it wasn't a woke related message and with those political movements now infecting games, our one safe place to escape the world and relieve stress has been taken away from us. So naturally, gamers are getting fed up and becoming cornered beats lashing out against the Tyranny of developers and the woke movement because they chased us down and forced their way into our only temporary escape from them.

When the game gave you the option to click (Kiss Him) while talking to Hans, did you click it?
You can get the first game for a tenner on CDKeys, or £15 for the Royal edition... But it goes on sale quite often, I got the Royal edition for like £5 a few months ago (though I can't remember if I bought on Steam or CDKeys).

They're both very similar from what I've played of this one so far, and although playing the first isn't strictly necessary this is a direct sequel that begins immediately after the events of the first game.

Did I say I was one of the ones that was upset about that? Or was I making an observation about why it wasn't doing as well as it should and explaining it? It was the fact that they did it during a time of zero tolerance since gamers have been so harassed by the woke movement in their games. So the same way Ghost of Yotei will under-sell because it's a female protagonist during a time of zero tolerance and everyone being fed up with the drama from the culture war, it was perceived as woke even though you've always been able to choose your gender in games like these by romancing whoever you want.

That said, the LGBT community is still upset with the game because it's not enough for them. I am one of those that's tired of being harassed in my safe place by woke drama and political messages, but this game in particular is not one of those doing that. Reading comprehension is everything, don't project on me just because you interpreted what I said incorrectly.
