How tf do I equip the torch?

Check keybinding in settings. IIRC, should be the R-key on keyboard/mouse setup.

Holding down on the Dpad as someone just stated above you smartass.

Wow, some people are just jerks. It was a good question while playing on a controller. We aren't used to having to hold down a button to do a quick task. Not an intuitive control, and unlike a lot of the other stuff, the game doesn't feed you the answer. After dark, it would be nice if the screen showed in the bottom hud a unlit torch with the button needed to activate it. At least at the beginning.
