Yeah, something is clearly wrong, I have 17 Vitality, 16 Strength and 15 Warfare/sword. There's no way I just die in 2 hits. It's clearly broken.

I found just hitting him in the head seemed to do the trick, he must have plot armour or something at 150 each part of his body or something, cause 2 whops to the head, and he was done.

its not worth it i used up a save potion after each of the fights and the only reward you get is a necklace worth barely 50 coins

whats worse is the mission that follows. im on it now. forced stealth and chore section, may the lord save me. really hope i can get this one done fast... pretty tedious so far.
Don't bother with master strikes. Just keep perfect blocking and trying to regular hit their head. They tire out fast and 3-4 hits will do it.
at least you guys get swords, half the duels in game i spawn in without the training sword

Exactly! They hit you once and you loose, and they take like a 10 hits. At the end I defeated all opponnents but it pissed me off so much I needed to take a break after it. The wedding should be the best quest in this part of the game and is the worst so far. First I was looking for that sword for more than 1 hour, then those duels, and unfair dice game. This whole segment of the game should be redisigned.

This HAS to be glitched. If this was intentional whoever made that decision is a moron lol.

Same. But only without a sword in a wedding duel.

Which one is it?

Skill issue. Combat in the game is super easy. One of one combat is trivial.

That really was hard, he could barely swing the sword. I drank Buck's blood and another potion (don't remember the name) and managed to win after a few attempts. The reward sucks though
Wait what duel? I never saw a duel there only finding the sword

This is most mind-boggling suggestion I have read in relation to this quest/challenge. Master strikes is the one and only surefire method to win this as master strike can not be riposted back at you. If you are trying to perfect block and riposte afterwards, one of two things will happen: 1.) you get into infinite chain of perfect blocks and ripostes, which means you lose at the end as you run out of stamina or 2.) you get master strike yourself and likely lose the duel if the master strike was aimed at head (I survived one master strike to the body).

Best way to win these duels where you have no armor is to play very passively and fish for master strikes. If you need to block, just perfect block and do not attack back to keep your stamina up. You will eventually catch them enough times with master strikes to defeat them.

This is only true if you grind your stats and skills high enough. If you have not grinded excessively or not used certain weapon type, no matter your "skill" you will suck at the combat.
I can defeat heavily armored knights, for example the one you can duel in Sigismund's army camp for a quest, with a short sword in 1 or 2 hits, however, I had to duel him with pole-arms, which I did not use and the duel dragged for over 10 minutes and we both broke our weapons at least once. I finally defeated him with a weapon downgraded to tier 1 from original tier 3, which means I broke it twice. My combat skill was at 6 initially and ended up at 9 by the end of the duel. This weapon type does not have master strike so it was extremely difficult to land any hits.

Talk to Gnarly in the barn. There's also a dice tournament if you talk to the bailiff
