Cooking? Is it even a thing?

Played a good few hours so far, tried alchemy and smithing. Crafting is done really well imo. But where is cooking? and why can't I cook at camps? I feel like I'm missing something, I see no way to gather and light kindling, yet I have a a torch that magically turns on when I press R. The closest I got to actually cooking was buy buying a fresh chicken, and smoking it...that can't be it surely? Devs really dropped the ball on the simulation/survival aspect if this is the case..

At the campfires and stoves there is like a frying pan. That has the cook interaction on it.

You can cook by interacting with stoves. which are usually found in taverns and certain homes.

But you can't interact/light the camp fires at camps? I'll try the stoves etc, but I assume it's just extremely basic cooking..no recipes etc? I've not seen a single cooking recipe...Very disappointing tbh. Devs had a chance to make a full cooking profession/crafting system here. I hope this is modable enough to allow it.
