What they need to do is to give a visual clue of the current mouse position or direction. Until they do (which I doubt they will), it's guesswork because you don't know from what point to what point the game is estimating the direction.
Adding to that the noise in the mouse movements that they don't filter, no support to adjust the DPI, and you get something that only a few people can use with some degree of control.

The system has become worse for me, like i do a reposte now just as in KCD1, and the enemy just counters it again, and again and again. The only way i can win a fight now is by just spamming hits after hits, and this is not how the fighting system was meant to be!
And don't get me started on fighting wolves, it's almost impossible, they can take multiple arrows and seem to have a thicker skin than a honey badger.
Its marginally better with controller but yes, combat is just horrible, zero fun whatsoever. It's like some sort of very cumbersome QT event mini-game, really don't know what the devs were thinking when you consider how compelling the rest of the game is.
How important is combat in this game? I'm still not sure about what playstyle I want but I guess I should better be a thief or so, given how terrible combat is.
