Not enough Ram available?
When booting the game, it says I there is not enough ram available and it may impact the game. I've never had this problem before with any of my games (btw. i installed kcd on an external ssd)

It's difficult to respond to this with any assistance without knowing the RAM/VRAM your system has.
16 GB, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz, Nvidia GForce GTX 1060 6 GB, 6029 vRam

16GB system memory is the minimum spec, so you should be ok there.

GPU? Maybe VRAM issue.
Perhaps, i just edited my first comment. Could be helpfull

The GPU is also OK for minimum spec.

Maybe you had some system memory locked up in another task. Try restarting the PC, and launch the game again with minimum other processes, apps, overlays etc running in the background.
I have the same thing and above average specs, i need a way to just disable this entirely, because this really screws up streaming the game from other devices when i have to get up and close this window to start the game

I cant imagine anyone trying to game on 16Gb. I Know its weird because you go into Best Buy or wherever and they will tell you they dont even carry anything higher than 16 because that is already future proof and no game will ever need more than that, but they are all clearly on crack. 16Gb is nothing. Star Citizen 4.0.1 wont even run on 16Gb. I doubt the new elder schrolls or any other upcomming AAA games will accept 16. The PC industry is out of touch with reality and needs to accept that they are not putting enough ram in this years models.

Quite true.

With my previous platform (Ryzen 2700) I was running with 32 GB of RAM and saw some games using up as much as 12-15 GB of memory. Keep in mind that is ON TOP OF what the OS (in this case Windows) was using. which was about 3 GB, so 15-18 GB in all. Currently running with 64 GB (Ryzen 7950 X3D) and while I don't expect any game for the next few years to be using any more than 24 GB of memory by itself. I'll have the comfort of knowing that I have plenty of excess for that rare unicorn of a game that does need more.

Ah yes, the horribly unoptimized "unicorn"
