Is the game optimized poorly?
The recommended specs ask for RTX 4070 and Ryzen 7 7800 and 32gb of RAM. There is no way this is the best the devs could come to while optimizing the game.

Or am I mistaken and these recommendations are for 1440p or 4K resolutions?

RTX 4060, 32 Gb RAM, Ryzen 7840HS, High graphical settings, 1080p = 80-100+ FPS. No statters, no crashes at all. GOTY
Definitely has some issues in regards to texture pop-ins and sometimes sound loops. Other than that it runs pretty well.

4060TI RTX 16gb, 32gb ram, Ryzen 5800X3D 4.6ghz OC. 1TB Samsung 990 pro M.2 NVMe.

Ultra in 1080p everything cranked up with reshade.

for some reason people on geforce are having more issues compared to me with a not so great sys spec running an RX.

I'm not sure if everyone with a RTX is having issues but if so it must be due to drivers meaning issues will be resolved in the near future

I've had nothing but problems so far... and I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ serious computer, its a Threadripper PRO 5945WX, 128GB of RAM and a 3080 Ti 12GB. Even put the settings on low, can walk around just fine but the moment I interact with an NPC its a damn slide show. And the cutscenes are totally borked. Just after the escape in the rocks, after the lake ambush scene, the vision of Henry's father, Henry's father is still sitting down next to Henry at like 4 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FPS, but the audio and rest of the game has carried on to the point where Hans is talking to me telling me I fell out of the sky.
Hm...I have RTX 4060 ti and only 16gb RAM, but so far jawdropping visuals and smooth gameplay, and i'm on ultra settings!

Game is actually optimized really well. I run everything on high with a 3060ti.

Yeah, i had the same problem with the audio it either loops or just completely desync from the actual gameplay, considering my rig is completely different from yours i would say it's a game problem.

Apparently not? Everyone's been singing praises - Digital Foundry, Daniel Owen, most PC review sites have quite a positive experience with the game, apparently it even runs great on PS5 Pro.
I'm playing on medium settings at 1440p with a RTX 2080s and the game is running fine, I'm usually around 60-70 fps in game and around 30-40 in the cutscenes. Not perfect but quite good for a 5 years old card

There is FPS cap in cutscenes

This game runs buttery smooth
My bad, I had assumed those were the medium recommendations

How is the performance in populated areas? Like cities or moments of action? I'm thinking about buying the game.
