I don't understand the combat at all.
How can bandit with terrible rags, hit me with one hit while I have full stamina, good armor and take 50% of my health and continue to strike me, while game has red "can't block" shield?

Not to mention every bandit seems to be able to always perfectly block me, my ripostes?

Yes, for me as a n00b, the combat is horrible. I am sure it's a 'git gud' situation but at the moment it's the only thing letting the game down.
A hit on the face is still a hit in the face. The armor is realistic. An arrow or sword to the face will still kill you if not wearing a helmet. Blunt damage goes right through armor also.
They don't really explain things well enough. Later on you train with a guy who asks you to do combos which are ridiculous to pull off. The aim direction doesn't seem to go where you want it. Only after you complete them does a pop-up appear that explains the direction your sword ends up after a strike, which then explains why your sword aim changes. That should have been explained from the off. The red shield of doom should have been explained too. It spells doom and instant death until you get some armour.

With limited saves you seldom get a chance to test your combat mettle before you get skewered and have to reload from miles away. That causes so much frustration for the player.

I'm sure the game gets a lot better later but they haven't learnt from the first game. In fact I'd say the opening hours to the game is far more difficult to get into than the first. Again you're liable to die with every encounter even though you could defeat an entire army by the end of the first game!

KCD1 had the same exact issue where nothing was explained and then enemies pummel you in groups.

Two ragged bandits are able to put me down, despite having armor. /TWO/.
The combat is terrible. The reviewers knew this and didn't take points off for it. They lied to you. Make them pay for it. Stop supporting them.

This is really just bloody frustrating, i have the full Brunswiek Armour set, a good Falchion and a bloody Bandit on the road with no armour and no shield just ♥♥♥♥♥ me up. I was sooo looking forward to this game, and now i am just outright frustrated. I have 200 plus hours of KCD 1 under my Belt and have spent a lot in this one, but this is just too much. I mean i Block and this sucker Hits me constantly. I have had it. Gonna delete this peace of crap. Shame on you Warhorse.
This SUCKS big time

This.

Train until you get Master Strike then watch for your opponent to strike first. Block him then counter immediately. Killing is easy in this game. It will become very easy to wipe out a roadside camp . Use Mutt if you need help. Mutt is definitely helpful early in the game.

I have master strike, but too fast for me to anticipate the direction of the attack. I admit i cant react that fast. I attack 30 times and only one strike hits?? And they never seem to run out of stamina.
What the f??? This is harder than Dark Souls, and that was HARD

Fight against 3 Opponents was never an issue in kdc 1 after long Training with Bernard

But in KCD 1 if you followed the main quest just a tiny bit after being "released" from the tutorial you would have access to Captain Bernard to train with as much as you wanted and learn all of that.
In fact you were railroaded into having to train at least once with him to avoid people being left in the lurch.

In KCD 2 you of course can find people to train with but it's not as straightforward and can be easily missed.

they probably hit you're head or an unarmored part which is why you take damage

I was having issues until I drugged up the trainer from the Nomad camp and beat him rather easily, which allowed him to teach me Master Strike.

After that then killing NPC's was not a problem. Use Lullaby on your weapon( reduces opponents energy to zero) and make sure your armor is healthy.
