Another wave of layoffs at Embracer Group?
The authors of KCD1 sold the studio to Embracer Group, which invested a lot of money in the development and promotion of KCD2. Embracer expected the sequel to be a sales hit that would far surpass its predecessor.
Now, shortly after release, there are about as many players in the game as there were when KCD1 came out - then a new brand from a new studio. Embracer definitely hoped for more from KCD2. The group's shares are also now in decline.
Perhaps this will affect the group's overall financial situation and there will be another wave of layoffs in the whole group.

Hope that they stop buying indie companies that have great potential

You people are so damn desperate to explain away KCD2 success.
Embracer is far too big for this to have any real affect on them.

Embracer's main source of troubles when it was having them was it's over reliance on loans from Swedish banks that facilitated it's rapid growth. Then a combination of Covid and Swedish banks realising that inflation exists and drastically upping the interests rates caused all that.

A big game selling fine isn't going to tank the entire group. Your whole complaint is that based on preliminary information the game sold OK. Not badly but just fine.

I agree, they are not good for the indie scene and gaming in general.

They are so SJW they took over a billion from Saudi Arabia LOL

Their work force went from 15k to 10k probably be more now. They had to sell off a bunch of indy companies including one of my favorite.
The small group of people who bought the game can try and cover up the problem with positive reviews. But the fact remains .. most people who would have bought it, didn't. And we all know why.

I don't even agree with the "it sold fine part". IT only cost 40 mill to make and reached a peak player count higher than most games that cost more than double reach and those games tend to sell well.

You're in day 1, so far there's no way you can tell that anything's disappointing, it's #1 on steam, and the word is just starting to spread.

What market demand?

The one you just made up at this second to suit a narrative that exist solely in your head?

Why are you people so vague all the freaking time?

No, I didn't have a problem with BG3. The issue is changing a character that's been confirmed straight to a gay man in order to please a financier with a woke agenda. Then building the entire game around the gay romance.

If you like banks controlling game narratives and destroying continuity for social agendas, that just means you lack principles.
